Bonjour from Geneva!

I am now being for three years a "long-distance-virtual-member" of the CFA!Found it on the net, loved the shirt, got the shirt and now discover and love everything you do guys(I wish I ll be there or have that here).

Anyway, I decided to post some Geneva's runs (not as crazy as yours though) I am going to take part.

So, here is my next one on sunday Le Demi de Jussy.  It's an half marathon, but I will run the 10km, as I am planning to run the half marathon on Lausanne at the end of october (it's up hill).

To celebrate the life and passions of our dear friend and fellow runner, Susan Giuffre, we will be running her favorite North Shore mountain trail run October 18th.  Please join us, for a 1 - 2 hour run or walk starting at Hyannis drive, Sunday Oct 18 at 9:00 a.m.

A brief description of the running route follows.  A modified version for walkers will be available at the start. Please come, meet some new runners or run with some good friends and enjoy the trails that Susan loved so much.

What: Join Business Member Kintec and Club Fat Ass for a slideshow of outdoor adventures and a Club social wrap-up of the year.

Mix and mingle with some old running friends and make some new ones.  There will be a slideshow of images from past CFA events running in the background.

The focus of the evening will be a slideshow and tales from CFA members and their big adventure runs.  These will include Dave Smith's Iceland Ultra, the incredible adventures of the Fools and the Baggers Challenge.

Registration now closed...too many cooks in the kitchen ;-) 

Sorry if you missed it. We'll hopefully do it again next year, so keep that chili recipe handy!

What: A 75K run between Deep Cove and Lynn Canyon.  Each return trip is 25K.  Since this is a Fat Ass event you may, of course, do whatever you distance like.

What:  A spectacular trail run in and around Capilano Canyon Regional Park. 

Where:  Meet in the parking lot at Cleveland Dam in North Vancouver.  It's on the left side of Capilano Road about 1 kilometer past the Capilano Canyon Suspension Bridge and about the same before Grouse Mountain.

Why:  Because this run showcases some magnificent trails and it's close to downtown.

Hi guys and gals!

Myself and a number of friends from work have been doing workouts at lunch time in the little park behind Lynnmour Elementry School in North Vacnouver.

We meet at 12:05 sharp at the park (we actually run from our work located near by) and typically do the following workout(s).  Taken from Craig Ballantyne's Turbulence training we are currently following the 6-month body weight training manual. 

This typically comprises of:

5 min warm up (our run to the site)

Come join us for the 1st ever Saint Patty's Fatty 5K.  A short jaunt around the West Loch and back to the house to enjoy some delicious Corned Beef and Cabbage and Shepherd's Pie.  Green beer will be available on request after you dance a jig.

This is a trail run on a trail which many of you have run past but few probably know called the Lower Elsay Trail.  It will take an average of probably around 6-8 hours.  The trail is well marked aside from the entrance, with tree tags.  In general keep cutting across many creeks and gulleys around the same altitude, and do not head towards the water unless you are sure you are on the Lower Elsay Trail.

What: I little birdie told me that William is embarking on his annual House to Grouse adventure, a run from his house near Main Street to Grouse Mountain.  Not sure when William will be setting out, but my plan is to leave early from the Yellow Beacon in North Van, run up Mosquito Creek and then via one of the multiple trails up to Grouse mountain and the peak.

On Wednesday July 7th Ellie Greenwood from Team Montrail will be out at the Kintec in Port Moody giving a talk about her recent achievements in the running world.  There will be some draw prizes from Montrail and light snacks & drinks.  Doors open at 6pm and Ellie's talk will commence at 7pm.  

If you've been hiding under a rock you haven't heard the news about Ellie breaking the World 100k record on trail at Elk Beaver last month and then 4 weeks later shattering the Calgary Marathon women's record by 10 minutes!

I'm new to the club so this is my first flash event.

Plan is to leave Vancouver around 6am.  We can drive to the trailhead, or if people feel ambitious we can bike there and lock our bikes up in the forest.  Use the new trail up to Deeks lakes, bag a peak or two, run into snow, get lost, get found, finish at Cypress, retrieve bikes (if applicable), carbo-hyrate with chilled frothy beverages at a pub.

Come prepared for snow (atleast mentally).

I expect we'll be in the 8-12 hour range.

Prerunning the Sunshine in September course (yet again!) to make sure directions are correct and that I can manage the entire distance. Anyone want to join us?

If you've been watching the event calendar, you likely know that the Sunshine In September event is scheduled for the first weekend in September. You may have also noticed that we held a Flash recon run of the course to fine-tune directions back in June. We will meet at Lightning Lake parking lot in Manning Park on Saturday August 28th at 10:00AM to run the second loop of Frosty Mountain Trail Race. The distance is 23 km, time anywhere from 2.5- 4hrs. Pay parking in effect ,cash only.

It is always difficult to arrange carpooling!

One more training run. Meeting at the parking lot in front of Bean around the World.

Taking Old Buck to the Power Line ross the Road turn left on the first trail you see (can't remember it's name)turn into Mushroom parking lot cross the road again to Neds, down Neds turn left to Bridal Path, back to Old Buck and finish off at the parking lot.Approximately 12 km

Confused, don't worry the course will be marked.
