I forgot to sign out, but please put me down for the 25k Up in 3:33. Thanks, great day for a trail run!

Water at Cypress Turnaround

It's looking like the weather will be sunny and warm.  For those running the 50K, please think about where you will get water.

There is a fountain at Cleveland Dam.  From there to the turnaround on Cypress Mountain and back you should anticipate having no water.

This evening Des stashed two (2) 4-liter jugs of water for those running the 50K at the turnaround on Cypress.  That's not much, but it should be enough if everyone takes no more than a waterbottle full for the return trip to Cleveland Dam.

See you at 7:45!

out & back

I like the idea of the out & back run so will probably try to do that too starting at Cleveland Dam. Great idea!

Great, Helen. We'll see you

Great, Helen. We'll see you at the start at Griffin and then will carpool/drive over to Cleveland.

out & back

Hi Sibylle

I've arranged to meet at at Cleveland Dam so will just wait for you there.

Looks like a beauty day!

Anyone doing the 25 down?

I'm hoping to do the 25k down, but the car needs to go to the 25k up start with Jackie. If there is anyone heading to the 25k down can I grab a ride? -Dave

25 down

Dave,

I wouldn't mind doing the 25k down, but where to leave the car as apparently the parking lot is closed due construction work? If you have a suggestion or anyone else doing the 25 k down and getting dropped off there, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Pam, A few of slower

 Hi Pam,

A few of slower runners (to slow for you) will be doing about 24km, but start at Cleveland Dam-  after seeing the 50km off at Griffin - We'll be running the Capilano Loop, then up to the turnaround and back.  Not sure how Dave's plans have progressed, but I think his wife was trying to rope him into doing the out and back version...

Just a thought.

Sibylle, I saw your

Sibylle,

I saw your suggestion for the out and back version with the start/finish at Cleveland Dam. As I haven't heard from Dave, I will go for the out and back run. See you at Griffin in the am. Does anyone need a ride? I live in the Grand Blvd area and have a few seats for the drive to Griffins and Cleveland Dam.

Pamela

Out and back for me too

Yeah, I think the 25 down might not be in the cards for me either, especially since I'd be too slow to run with you and I've been advised this isn't a route to do alone for the first time. Maybe next year. -Dave

The "Down" Start, The "Up" Finish or the 50K Turnaround

This key point in the XTC is a picnic area on Cypress Mountain.  Normally, you can park your car here or have friends and family meet you.  Not this year!

The picnic area is under construction and is closed to the public.  I believe we can still use the outhouse, but we can't park here.  I believe it will be possible for someone to park briefly in the entrance to the picnic area during the XTC, but the person will need to stay in the car, as construction vehicles are going in and out fairly frequently.

If you were planning on doing the 25K "Down", you will have to be dropped off.

If you were planning on doing the 25K "Up", please instruct your crew to hang out at the lookout about 2K down the hill while they are waiting for you.  I recommend you call them when you are about 1K before the picnic area.

If you were planning on doing the 50K and were hoping to have someone meet you at the 1/2 way, then please follow same instructions as 25K "Up".

Note to slower 25km runners:

Note to slower 25km runners: Because of the construction Ean mentions above, we either find somebody willing to pick us up or, alternatively, could meet at the start at Griffin, see the 50km runners off and then drive to Cleveland Dam and run to the turnaround and back.  This would incorporate the prettiest part of the course.  Thoughts?
