Seawall100 2013

My first CFA event at last! Joined a few months back so somewhat overdue. Good to meet Karl, Sybille and Kyndra at the start. Also huge thanks to Margot, Sean, Sarah and Peter for 5 star support and pro photos to mark the occasion.

My personal goal was to improve on my furthest distance run to date (marathon) by trying for a 50km.

Full Moon Frenzy 2013 - Race Report

After a course change due to political instability to our South, we ended up with 4 participats for the 2013 edition of the Full Moon Frenzy.  Returning champion & last year's King Of the Mountains, Alexis Guigue, proposed the idea to return to the Stein (after a failed plan in 2011 due to high snow).  We'd start at Lillooett Lake and finish in Lytton.  The upper Stein had apparently been "cleared" in 2012, so conditions should be "good" (foreshadowing).

Knee Knacker 2013, The 25th installment - Nightmare Training, but DREAM race!

Cheers to the KKNSTR – the 25th Anniversary!

(Our 5th wedding anniversary occured while in B.C. for the KKNSTR. Above: Lauren and I at U Brew on Clark Street - bottling with Ean and Linda Leigh)

TCT Social Club 2013?

I would like to see the TCT Social Club run again this year. In unrelated news, I would have a healthy headstart in the 2013 edition.

Yesterday, I ran from Willingdon Ave in Burnaby to the other side of the Golden Ears Bridge in Langley (Section 4.2 to Section 8.2), or 60.1 km of complete sections. I started at 1:30 and finished about 6h later.

Reasons to Run Spaghetti Trees This Year! Victoria, BC Awesomeness!

Come run Spaghetti Trees this year! And enjoy some other Victoria, BC awesomeness!

I can't wait to get back to East Sooke! I had a break from hosting last year but now I'm back and really excited. I love running on the North Shore, but the Spaghetti Trees trails are so different and gorgeous and amazing and I love them and I miss them (we moved to North Van from Victoria in 2011, so now I only run in Victoria for CFA events - but hey, what a good reason to visit!).

Vancouver New Years Day Run - Surprise, Guys!

Heads-up if you are a man who plans to go for a run and a swim tomorrow and would like a warm shower and a place to change afterwards...

I've got some bad news:  The men's change room/shower at Brocton Oval was vandalized and is closed.  The entire men's side of the facility is still boarded-up.

New Years Day Potlatch - Free Stuff!

The spirit of potlatch will be celebrated on New Years day 2013.  Those of the running clan unite!

My 90 Days of Natural Running

No, I am not planning to run naked for the next 90 days...

Something has to budge.  I refuse to acknowledge that the wear and tear of 105 ultramarathons is why my knees hurt.  It has to be my shoes.  It looks like the one extreme of running barefoot has moved far enough toward the other extreme of running in climbing boots for me to try something a bit different.

"Natural running" is the term that is gaining ground on "barefoot running".  This mostly because "natural running" accepts that shoes are not our enemies.
