Can't afford to to fly away to run a Quadzilla somewhere warm we'll you are in luck.....I'm going to host a cold one in Vernon BC Canada!
First ever Ultra Quadzilla in Canada! December 31st January 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Ultra Quadzilla 4: The New Year! "10K loops" each and every day.
Keeping it simple to self aid, and add up the K"s, we will start in Cosen Bay parking lot where we will have access to our cars and a washroom. This course is a hilly beautiful loop around the lake of many colors in the sun and snow. Bring yaks if you have them. We could be running on ice trails, mud, or 6 inches of powdered snow it's all beautiful.
Again keeping it simple you can start as early as you would like and finish as late as you would like to accommodate your family's holiday schedule. RD will be starting at 8am each day as to be finished in time to enjoy the evening. Remember you will be running on snow? Just show up, run, and email RD your time and distance.
These races will count towards Half Fantics, Marathon Maniacs, and 50 states Club tallies as applicable as per your mileage run.
Medals There will be something for the full Ultra 4 finishers!!! It's a surprise. It's not a medal!
This is a low key Fatass-style fun run where you will compete against yourself and your own goal to finish. No fee, no aid stations ,no frills. Just fun on a run in the snow on a challenge! For four Days!

Forth Day and we are done!
It was a banner day. I can't believe how well we all did. Amazingly we seem to be stronger today. Could it be we all new this was the finish line day. Smell the barn as they say!
The conditions we even better for traction so it was not so much a slog. I never laughed so much on a race as I did today. I thought I was going to win the best wipe out as I went down good thanks to a tree branch but Barry had to out do me with a full face plant. Yes he is okay! Wendy wins the most wipe outs through the days Barry a close second. I did most of the bum sliding probably the reason I didn't win the wipe outs. Gregory's way to good on his feet.
Brandy Beans for all!

Yahoo! It was a blast today. Didn't think it would go well but the trails were easier on us. The snow had melted just enough to had some traction. Perfect running day. We all did well but we all are going to hurt. "Just muscles this time."

Second Day results
Very tough day. Trial's were very slippy, two steps forward one back. That and I was tired and a touch wounded. *Note to self don't run 50 miles, dance all night and drink to much wine) all in one day! I was not the only one partying so most of us felt not so wonderful. It got better as the day went bye, but it was work. Some of us did not do all the work.
Wendy went for breakfast with her family and came in late on the other end of Kal Lake, which turned out to be Barry early out. Sharon was a no show! "Bad Sharon". David was out for one lap. Emily lasted for 3 loops. Gregory Joanne and I muddeled through the full 50k. My yaks really helped but the three us us were hurting.
Lorie 50K with my yaks & sleepy made it through 7:26

That's great Barry.
Looks like Linda will not make it. Doing the 26.2 quad in CA It's too cold for her here.
Wendy Birkeland from SA and Sharon Baker from AS are confirmed, Nicole, Dave, Brynne, Mark are still question marks. Alberta boy's too. We'll see. It is going to be cold and the snow is coming.
Dress warm I'll have hot stuff brought in and maybe a fire, I'll check with park. Or
maybe we could start from my house?? It's only 2k away and then we can warm up in my studio.

This quadzilla
Hi folks. My name is Stevie Ray and I manage the calendar for the maniacs. I was asked to add this event to our calendar, which is why I'm here. Your quadzilla sounds very cool.
I see that this event was submitted here on 12/17. Please note that if this is the first (or only) place this has been advertised, technically it would not count for Maniac and Fanatic stats. Per our Criteria FAQ (http://www.marathonmaniacs.com/faq_criteria.html), an event has to be advertised somewhere for at least a month before the event for it to count towards our stats.
Mind you, our stats are honor system, but I thought I would point this out since your event description says that it DOES count.
I would hope that this wouldn't keep anyone away from a fun sounding event. Whether it "counts" or does not, it is still a great challenge.
BTW, if this has been advertised elsewhere since at least 11/30, then it might actually count... I've cut-n-pasted the applicable rule below:
(The race must be advertised (paper, flyers or posters in an athletic store, web site or other means of communication) at least 1 month prior to the event. We feel that this is ample time in allowing other Maniacs (and non-Maniacs) to have knowledge and to make plans should they want to participate in the event. )
Ultr Quad 4 "The New Year"
Chiming in here!!
I have been handing out Fatass flyers and inviting runners for months now. Informing runners form out side of Canada about Club Fatass and that I would host a muti day Fatass style "flash event" do to the fact that the "Across the Years" race was not on this year.. Sorry I only know how to Flash events!!!
So we are all on our honors...This is a certified loop and I have more then enough runners to start to make it an official event following road racing regulations.
Ok, if you have been handing
Ok, if you have been handing out fliers that indicate the time, place, and length of the event for longer than a month, then it'll count and I will add this to the calendar. Very cool. (Now, if your fliers are more general club fat ass fliers that didn't list event specifics, that's different)
This is the second time that someone has pointed out that this is a "flash" event. I have to admit ignorance of that term. Just from the word itself, it struck me as a way to describe a last minute thing... but perhaps that isn't what it means.
Sorry to jump in and sound like I'm trying to sleet on your party. Not really my intention :-). I get requests to add stuff to our calendar from around the US and other places, and some of it is very obscure. When I start doing my homework, sometimes I get confused.
Ultra Quadzilla 4: The New Year!
Thanks Stevie.
Nice to know all the rules for Maniacs! I'm new at this.
The runners who like to count on Maniacs will be happy, the ones who just want to run will be happy.
It's going to be a great event I will post the results on Club Fatass on time this time!
We have several types of
We have several types of events, recurring or Scheduled Events (happen at the same time of the year every year), one off or Flash-Events, that can be last minute, but don't need to be - there is no expectation though that they will be repeated next year. We also don't require a membership in CFA to participate in a Flash.
Thanks for the info, Stevie.
Thanks for the info, Stevie. Not sure if Lorie, the Event Host, had listed this anywhere else before today, so I let her chime in on it and update her event info should need be.
Distances
Reminder this is Ultra Quadzilla but if you wish to dial it down to 1/2 marathon or marathon you may. If you wish to run more then 50K you may.
I"m running 50 miles December 31 then 50K each of the other 3 days! This will be my last 50/50 miler for the year on New Year eve. How good is that!
Well, I guess running 50km on
Well, I guess running 50km on New Year's Day in Vancouver now doesn't sound so crazy after all.
Have fun, Lorie.
