Looking for company

I'm looking for some company on the ride to Powell River. I was planning on taking the 7;20 ferry on  Saturday morning . I haven't booked any accommodation for Saturday night. I was going to just take my chances. If I don't get any takers ,I don't think I will head up there. So if you are interested please let me know soon

 Cheers

Need a Ride on Friday Afternoon?

Al McMordie asked if anyone would like a ride up to Powell River on Friday afternoon.

He is planning to leave North Vancouver between noon and 2:00.  Needs a hand loading some stuff onto his truck.  May have a place for you to bunk for a couple of nights not far from the start on Malispina Road.

If interested, pls call Al at (604) 551-1172 ASAP!

Actually, the deal is that I need help packing my truck in North Vancouver and unpacking it up at my cabin near Powell River.  I offered to let the Jackson clan stay at the cabin IF Ean helped me do this.  He can do the Powell River unloading but not the North Vancouver loading.  So if you want Ean Jackson to be indebted to you for near eternity, come and help me load the truck in North Van.  I can drive it myself but if you want a ride to Powell River Friday afternoon, you can join me.  You can stay at the cabin too.

This is no big load.  It is just a few bulky furniture items into the back of a pick-up truck.  It would take 30 minutes max.  I want to do the loading some time between noon and 2:00 so that I can be on the 3:30 HBay ferry.

This offer is gender neutral.

Car Pooling to Powell River from Vancouver for Marathon Shuffle

As a past co-owner of the Marathon Shuffle course record (with John McGrath), I was approached by Eagle Walz, host of the Marathon Shuffle, the other day.

I believe Eagle intended to get me all riled-up.  He reminded me that the local boys set a new course record last year that made all the former record holders look like weak joggers with anemia.  He also mentioned to me that the current record holder has every intention in the world of keeping the crown.

Dem's fightin' words!  Unfortunately, this old cowboy isn't fit enough or fast enough to take the bait.  While I do intend to complete the Marathon Shuffle this year, it won't be pretty.

To that end, I challenge anyone from Vancouver with a sense of honor to join me on a little road trip to Powell River to win back the Marathon Shuffle trophy.

To win this 30-odd kilometer run, you will likely need to do sub-3 hours.  To set the course record, you'll need to do better than 2:57.  Of course, there are women's records, youth records and 1/2 Marathon Shuffle records up for grabs, too.  Even if you're broken and washed-up like me, this is a very nice trail run in a very special part of the world.  Definitely worth the road trip!

I know there are several people who plan to drive up on Saturday and return on Sunday who either have room in their cars or need a ride.  I have a full car, but would love to enjoy the ferry ride with other Fat Asses.  If you're interested in going as part of a convoy or need a ride, pls check in here.

BC Ferries schedule for Horseshoe Bay-Langdale puts first departures out of Horeshoe Bay at 7:20 and 9:20.  We're aiming to be on the 7:20.
