First Bagger Bragging Rights

I spent the better part of Sunday evening and Monday morning sitting on the deck with my buddy Gary Robbins laughing, tipping back a few cool ones and trading war stories.  Top of our agenda was first bagger bragging rights.

Thank You!

Hey all,

First off a HUGE THANK YOU to Carlos for coming out and supporting me like only my own Father could duplicate. I would not have stood a chance without him this past weekend.

My body and mind will need a few days rest before I can even hope to put into words what an incredible experience this was for me.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words of support prior to the run and wonderful congratulatory messages since the run. I only hope I can justify the beauty of these trails in my eventual blog entry.

The WCT & JDF Beaten

Gary did real good!

Roxy and I are very proud, and happy that it all went down like clockwork.
Sub 24 hours!(total time, including the run between the two trails.)

Mary Leliveld's Happy Trails Run - 2007

2 August 2007 - Participants in Mary Leliveld's Happy Trial Run

More photos of this evening are posted here.

It was a run and potluck dinner in memory of our friend Mary Leliveld. The weather could not have been better.  The evening was hot and dry.  Perfect for a 10km friendship run (or walk) on Mary's favorite trails in the Lynn Headwaters and Rice Lake area.  The chatting started well before the run and Chris and Doug, our hosts had to push us to the start line. The pace of the run was thankfully slower than is previous years - I guess we are all getting older...

While the occasion for our get together is a rather sad one - Mary died way to early - we all were happy to reconnect and reminiscence.

The evening is also a fundraiser for Mary Leliveld's Tri BC Bursary Fund and all single day membership fees in Club Fat Ass are donated by Chris and CFA to the fund.  We raised a total of $324. Thanks to everybody who participated and contributed.

Relay runners needed for Stormy

I have a friend planning on running part of the relay (the long 22 km leg) for STORMY on August 11th (in Squamish).  It seems a few members of her team have dropped so she's desperately in need of some replacements.  She's looking for 3-4 people to run approximately 10 km (off-road but relatively non-technical trail) each.  If anyone is interested, please contact me ASAP and I'll forward your contact details onwards.

FWIW, she's a reasonably strong runner (finished her first Kneeknacker this year in 7:05).
