Monty News

I will be offering two start times for the 1/2 Monty this year.

7:00 or 11:00.

For the people on the Island you can start at 7 with me and run the 1/2.

The Full Monty guys will start at this time.

For anyone else that needs the sleep, or the time to get over here from the Mainland,

I will be starting the 1/2 Monty again at 11:00, I am not sure what will be happening after the event, but I am open to suggestions.

Bagging Routes

Last year during the 2009 Bagger Challenge, I found myself outsmarted by friends and foes who were more efficient with the way they invested their bagging time and energy.

Somnio Westridge Trail Running Shoe Review

Ellie Greenwood Montrail Talk in Port Moody

For those that may not have seen a reminder that Kintec in the brand new Port Moody location will be having the speedy Ellie Greenwood doing a talk about her recent achievements and other tidbits about running.  The talk is slated for an hour but given how Ellie has been crushing time goals all year it may well be done in 40 minutes!

Montrail is providing draw prizes for those in attendance as well as you could get a sneak peak of the 3 new Montrail shoes (Rogue Runner, Fairhaven and Badrock) that will join the Montrail family for Spring 2011.

Scorched Sole Ultras 2010

The Scorched Sole 50 miler this year was a way tougher run than previous years.
Instead of a 20k romp up to the KVR then 40k of the basically flat, rail to trail corridor, then the decent to the start finish area, the course was redesigned to include a 2000m. mountain.
Little White was still snow covered at the summit, and was melting fast!
The lower trail were more like stream beds. The snowfields were "slurpee" consistency and with two rope ascents with the same two ropes for our return.
The summit was also the turn around for the 50k.

Mount Fromme

Western States 2010

For readers who are new to long distance trail running, the Western States 100-mile Endurance Run is the granddaddy of 100-mile runs.

Practically-speaking, I don't get very excited about trail races I'm not running in.  There are so many of them.  If I'm not a participant in a race, I'm probably running somewhere else, so my attention is more focused on not falling over a root-ball or getting lost.
