Sunshine in September Recon Run - Event Report

Who could not want to run on such a perfect day? 11 of us started out from Langdale Ferry Terminal this morning to run the Sunshine in September course and attempt to finetune the course description. With three of us from Vancouver and the other 8 from Sunshine Coast Athletics, we had a good group out to run and all of the Sunshine Coast runners were able to run customized distances. Some lucky folk even ran home.

Checkout the Sunshine in September event page for more details on next weekend's run. Let's plan to catch the 7:20 ferry from Horseshoe Bay. Gets us to Langdale at 8am. That crazy Glenn Pace is at it again

The much-beloved Glenn Pace will be chagrinned by this posting, but he is once again exposing himself to many hours and many miles of suffering as he attempts a semi-solo Easter Seals 24-Hour Relay this month in Burnaby.

Give early and give often: it is for a very worthy cause: all funds go directly towards allowing children with disabilities to attend summer camp. As members of CFA, we are particularly blessed with fitness and free access to outdoor adventure: share the joy.

A link for donations and further details of Glenn's quest:

Go, Glenn, go!

Escape to Egmont - event report

Updated (attempted!) with GPX file. Thanks Greg!

With a brief break that allowed us some nice weather, we ran the first Escape to Egmont yesterday. With nine starters, we had fair representation of the communities of the sunshine coast. Powell River, Sechelt and Earls Cove runners made the trip to the Earls Cove ferry terminal for the 8:30am start.

This is a project that I’ve been thinking about for a while, and that I decided to put together yesterday as I slopped through the mud of the Juan de Fuca Trail.
