And The Lucky Winner Is...

I am happy to announce that this year's winner of the early bird registration draw (as determined by a random draw) is Ron Adams of North Vancouver.  Ron is a long time member of Club Fat Ass. He hosts the Adams Aidstation at the Capilano Canyon Night Run and is the organizer of the H2H 100k Ultra each November.

Ron wins a full refund on his 2010 membership. Congratulations, Ron!  Maybe it helps to sign up last minute...Ron's registration came in at 23:10h yesterday - just before the midnight deadline.

2010 New Years Day Fat Ass 50

Goodness, it's only a month until New Years day 2010... time to get stoked for some serious misery!

Here are some thoughts on how to train for this Vancouver New Years Day classic run:

2009 Seymour Super Fun Run Report - Midwest U.S. Style!

My wife, Lauren, works on the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday – every year. It’s a bit of a bummer, but that’s the way it goes. This year, like usual, I was faced with deciding what to do with my 4-day weekend. It’s typically a choice of: (A) driving from my home in St. Louis, MO to visit my mother in Arkansas, or (B) staying in the St. Louis area to spend the holiday with my Dad & his side of the family.

A little ditty to remember the day by.

Last Chance to qualify for Membership Refund

Last call to register for the draw for the 2010 membership refund. All members registered or renewed before midnight November 30 will be entered into a draw for a fee refund. What are you waiting for? Register now! We appreciate early registration as it helps us to get the shirt order in very early in January.

The other important date to remember is 1 January 2010. Only members on record on that day will receive their 2010 collectors-no stink-long sleeve tech shirt.

Membership registration will continue after 1 January, but you will receive the classic black CFA tech shirt. Nothing wrong with the black shirts... you just won't get the super duper 2010 edition.

Sunshine Coast Trail - Millenium Park Update

After ten years working toward acquiring the lands known as Millennium Park (Willingdon Beach Trail below Highway 101 and south of the Haul Road, as well as McFall Creek Corridor west of the Complex to the Pole Line), City Council has passed a motion at its November 19th Council Meeting enabling this acquisition from PRSC.

Hey all, just figured I'd give a quick heads up that Kerry Ward has been kind enough to offer up his studio for an evening presentation surrounding some of the adventures I've been fortunate enough to participate in over the last six years, since I started running/racing.

It's happening this Sat night and entry is only five bucks. Here's the link, hope to see a few of you there!

2009 November - Foolish Gerbil 100 Mile Trail Run - Results

A determined group of 8 runners started out at 9:00 am to run a loop or two ...or 16 at the Foolish Gerbil 100 Mile Run.  The air was crisp but the skies were dry for a moment and at least for the first three loops it never rained hard.  By the 3rd loop the eight runners had picked up 5 more Foolish Gerbils.

Sunshine Coast Trail shelter, plus Shuffle and Trudge

As president of the Powell River Parks and Wilderness Society (PRPAWS) I'm happy to be able to report that we are nearing completion of the first of 8 shelters we are building at regular intervals along the 180-km-long Sunshine Coast Trail (SCT) at Fairview Bay. We will need a few more work parties to put the finishing touches to it, but the roof is up and the loft will sleep at least a dozen people right now. Use is free.
