The rumours are true about the V100 ...

It was a beautiful day but the course chewed 'em up and spit 'em out. Six of 11 runners finished with 5 bowing out to look forward to the Vancouver 100 another day perhaps.  The weather cooperated but the snow on Hollyburn and Black Mountains was brutal.  In the end, Rod Hatfull was a major contender for a course record had it not been for the challenge they all faced on the big hills. Rob MacDonald bettered his time from 2005.  Preliminary results are now posted.

Come out to cheer for the Vancouver 100 runners

The Vancouver 100 will start this Saturday, 3 June at 4:30am in Deep Cove.  10 Ultrarunners and their support crew will toe the start line to complete a 100km long out and back run on the Baden Powell Trail from Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay and back.

North Shore Enduro - 6 Hour Run and Relay

The 4th annual North Shore 6-hour Enduro was run under perfect conditions. The sun was shining, the temps were cool, and 31 participants eagerly toed the line to start a day's work on the trails. Randy Hunter's 8-lap record is safe for now, but Mark Lesack and Bill Dagg grinded out 7.

North Shore Enduro - 6 Hour Run/Relay

The pub is booked, the door prizes plentiful, so come out and raise a toast to the Enduro! There's one catch - you have to run 6-hours first. The Enduro is a 6-hour run on a 7km loop course in the LSDR. Great training run for those running summer 100 milers. Not up to 6 hours? Get some buddies together and run the Enduro as a relay. For more information, check out the Enduro website.

E/B Ultras

Report from Carlos. Hey Donald, nice to see you out there today. All the races today were very exciting , what a great bunch of guys and gals out there being energetic! As for the winners, lots of intrigue and surprises at the beginning with most of the favorites dropping, very weird, it made the Canadian National 100K championship a real hum dinger, very close finishes (in Ultra terms). You, Donald and Rob MacKay had a good run today, (isn't he a good pace pusher, he helped me a great deal at Chuckanut the other day, thanks man).

Highway Protest Run

Anyone interested in a protest run on Saturday to help support the Eagle Ridge Bluffs crew?

Looking around 10:00ish but nothing set yet. This is not a Club Fat Ass event just using this forum to get the word out.

2006

22 April 2006 - 23 starters, 23 finishers

Sure, it seemed like a good idea many many months ago when a few co-runners agreed with me that a hilly training route may make a cool new CFA event. Like the field of dreams movie, planning out and actually putting on this run seemed like it was meant to be yesterday when there was 23 friendly Club Fat Assers toed up to the start line in an area most were not from. First of all, thanks to all of those runners who had the faith that we wouldn’t leave them lost and stranded way out in the middle of nowhere and made the effort to come on out and sample some new trails and a new CFA run. You guys made my day!!

Grin and Bare It

Heather Somerville, Angela Spooner and Debbie Mick just ran the Boston Marathon last Monday and had a chance to pose with their Fat Ass shirts on Boston Common following the race.

From left to right: Heather, Debbie and Angela. As you can see, Angela really wanted to be the poster girl!

Vancouver 100 update

We're still at 8 people for the Club Fat Ass 2006 Vancouver 100 but I know there are lots of others out there thinking they might be up to the challenge. I say, stop thinking. You either are or you aren't up to it.
