Crown Mountain Snowshoe Adventure

On Sunday, I woke up with the sun shining in my face. The Capilano Canyon Night run party went fairly late. It had been a tough work week. It had rained almost constantly for over 2 months. I rarely sleep in past 8:30, but I had no plans and it felt great to do nothing but soak in the rays. I could tell it was going to be a good day.

THE Day

This past Sunday was THE day.

By 10:00 am, I must have received a dozen calls or emails from my buddies informing me that "today was THE day". I have no idea what "THE day" means, but I knew when I looked outside that my buddies were right and that I'd better get my butt out the door.

I will share the details of what I did on THE day in another post, but I thought it was worthwhile to look at what defines THE day so you will know one when you wake up to one.

Here are a few thoughts:

2008 - Squamish Scrambler - Year 4

EVENT RECAP By Gary Robbins:

As people trickled into the North Shore Athletics in Squamish, the weather tempted us with patches of blue and views of the surrounding snow covered peaks. Could we really get lucky for the third straight year?

Thankfully it rained to an elevation of about 1000m throughout the week, which is right at the parking lot trail head for this snowshoe run, and all 4x4 vehicles were able to make it to the starting point without issue. We had six car pool vehicles and I greatly thank all who offered up their trucks up for transport on the day!

Even as we all collected in the parking area for our starter photo the skies played with us. A small blue patch here, some climbing cloud cover there...maybe, just maybe it would clear completely for us! This dream was quickly put to rest however, for as we ascended the trail the cloud cover grew thicker, the temperature dipped, and the snow started to fly! We had one brief vantage point back over Squamish after about fifteen minutes of snowshoeing, but the rest of the day would be spent in a winter wonderland.

Vancouver New Year's Day Fat Ass 50 Run and Freeze Your Fat Ass Swim - Archive Update

With the Vancouver New Years Day Fat Ass 50 in it's 16th year some of you noticed that archived results from way before Club Fat Ass existed where missing from this website.  I am happy to report that I dug into old computer files and a nifty weblink called Web Archives and was able to recreate the results and photos (or whatever was recorded) for most years.

You will notice that there are some gaps.  If you have photos or results of any of those years, I am happy to digitalize and post them.

Dirty Duo Course

I'm planning on running my first Dirty Duo 1 March. This will also be my first 50k in 4 years. What should I know about the course, any tips, etc?

Thanks,

Tom
