World Premier - XS-NRG (The Film)

The Sunshine Coast Trail is a relatively undiscovered gem of a trail that stretches 180 kilometers from Sarah Point in the north to Saltery Bay in the south on the upper Sunshine Coast near Powell River, British Columbia.

To bring awareness to the Sunshine Coast Trail and its natural beauty, the Marathon Shuffle has been held on a 29K section of the trail each spring.

A few years ago, four city boys from Vancouver threatened to run the entire 180K trail non-stop.  Locals said it couldn't be done.  The attempt was filmed.

The world premier of the film has now been scheduled for release in Powell River on the Marathon Shuffle weekend in April.  A week later, on 1 May, the film will premier in the HR MacMillan Auditorium in Vancouver.

Find out what happened on the trail in this never before seen footage by film maker Angus McLellan and run the trail the following morning to discover the trail firsthand.  More details and ticket information is here

Multi-day running cart

Hello all!

My 12 hour run March 19th 7pm - March 20th 7am in Burnaby

SFU is a location for the Relay for Life fundraiser for the Canadain Cancer Society this March 19th 7pm - March 20th 7am. Excitingly, I have received approval to be a "Team of One", i.e., complete the 12-hour SOLO.  If anyone would like to support my efforts to fundraise for the Canadian Cancer Society through the Relay for life that would be great! If anyone also wants to fundraise and complete the event SOLO you can contact the SFURelay organizer via email, she would be excited to hear from you. And oh, this will be my first attempt at running for 12-hours!

Ultralight backpacking gear for multi-day runs

When I began to formulate a plan to run from Powell River to Vancouver, following a route which has never been completed in its entirety, in an unprecedented length of time, it became clear that gear was going to play a major role.

On the Olympics and Training - Compete or Complete?

The 2010 Winter Olympics have impacted my training.  What inspiration!  What a party!

Seeing world class athletes at peak performance in the most competitive events in the world has caused me to think about what could have been and what can still be.

Kelowna Runs

If you find yourself in Kelowna in business, carless, as I found myself recently, you can seek solace in some very decent urban runs. Most of you will know about these already, but I didn’t, so here you are for future reference:

My "run" at 4000m: from Laguna Quilotoa to Chugchilán, Ecuadorian Andes in May 2009

So, I've been meaning to post this story for, well, almost 10 months now! Just haven't gotten around to it. Here we go!

[thanks very much to Sybille for helping me figure out how to add pix!]

This was a hike I did with some friends along one of the most incredible trails I have ever seen (and being a traveller who seeks out trails wherever I go, I've seen some pretty amazing trails!). I didn't actually run it, 'cause I was with friends who don't do that kind of crazy thing (!!), but I wished I could have.

CFA team in Yeti on Sat?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone put together a CFA team for Saturday's Yeti? Also, I'm wondering if any of you Vancouver-dwellers can advise on the snow situation... is it worth going up Grouse for the Yeti or am I going to be snowshoeing on mud!? :)

Living over here on the island I have no clue what the weather's been like over there. But this week on my balcony it was over 20 degrees most days which is certainly not conducive to snow! I'm coming to Vancity this weekend anyway, just wondering if I should give the Yeti a miss...
