Sunshine in September DATE CHANGE - Now Sat. Sept 11, 2010

Please note that the 2010 Sunshine in September has been changed to Saturday, September 11th, 2010. The event page has been updated.

This change eliminates the overlap with the Buntzen Lake 5-Peaks orientation run (so many more run leaders available to Sibylle!) and moves Sunshine in September off of the holiday weekend.

My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and I hope to see you at the event. I'll make the GOOD baked goods to make up for the change.

Please contact me if you have any questions. Jackie

2010 - Year 9 - Capilano Midsummer Night Run

Frosty Mountain training run #2 report

18 km of beautiful North Shore trails, nice sunny day,not to hot, not to cold. What more can you ask for. Perhaps a few more runners, I noticed some of the dogs were missing. I hope Benny didn't scare them off.

Just a reminder next week we will be in Manning Park running the second loop.

Following Gary Robbins during his ECT Run

By popular demand for those of you wanted to know how Gary is doing, here is the Twitter feed and here is a link of the time lines that Rick Arikado put together from Gary's tweets todate: https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=10UoCCvfyjO6EhxIO45h4of8KUucY4PyWQeYD2czMUM8epkw3JBm8n8fSMiUd&hl=en&authkey=CIXz--QG

Why Most Runners Aren't Eating Right

If you run you need to eat plenty of carbs, right? You need to carb load on a big old plate of pasta the night before a big race or long run, right?

That's what many runners think but they're wrong. While carbs are an important macronutrient, along with fats and protein, many runners make the mistake of eating too many processed carbohydrates such as breads and pasta.

Tourist Bag

While I don't like running alone, I do cherish the peace of the trails...something that cannot be found on the Grouse Grind.  No peace on the GG.  How is it that on adjacent trails, i.e. St Georges, Per Gynt etc you usually don't see a soul, yet there are hundreds of sweaty bodies crawling, huffing, puffing and running up the GG...
