Why I Love the Bagger Challenge

Yesterday (a week day), I bagged a peak for the first time with my friend Neil the ChickenMan.  Immediately upon my return, I went to a street party where none of the attendees were Baggers.  My non-bagging friends could not understand what could possibly motivate someone to play hooky and go for a 6-hour run on an obscure trail.  All this for bragging rights on a claim to have reached the peak of an obscure mountain peak and making it home alive in time for dinner.

Good question!

Help! Looking for a ride to Frosty Mt. 50k this weekend.

 Hi there.

Is anyone driving up to Manning Park for the Frosty Mountain race this weekend (Saturday, Sept. 18th)? Would you like a rider to share the cost of gas? My car has gone kaput and I'd rather give you my hard earned loot than pay a rental company.

I'd prefer to go up on Friday afternoon, but I'm not picky.

Thanks,

Andy

B.C. 2010 – a good year, indeed…

It’s been a good year for me. It has been FULL with travel and many of this year’s trips for me were to North Vancouver, B.C., Canada and the surrounding area. What a treat it’s been!

Bag-rific! DePencier Bluffs...

Joining the bagger challenge from Missouri ain't easy. And truth be told, I'm not a big fan of sketchy scrambles up deadly mountain sides. It's just not my BAG. However, Sunshine In September went swimingly well and I was faced with plenty of time to get something fun done while the sun was still up. But what to do? Jackson came up with a GREAT idea - let's go bag DePencier Bluff - the newest peak added to the Club Fat Ass Bagger Challenge!

Sunshine in September - 2010

Starter Photo: 11 September 2010 - 13 Starters

Report: Contrary to the weather forecast leading up to Saturday, we truly had Sunshine in September on the Sunshine Coast this weekend. On Saturday morning, we arrived at the ferry terminal to find our starters properly caffeinated and ready to go.

2010 - Year 7 - Fall Mountain Highway Madness

12 September 2010 - 7 Human Starters + 1 Hound

By definition, anyone who participates in Mountain Highway Madness is mad. Not mad at the world... I mean nuts mad: Crazy, bonkers, out of their gourd mad. What same person would want to run up a big mountain, turn around and run back down, then repeat until they are too exhausted to even drool?

Sunshine in September 2010 - Run, Ran, RUN!

For those of us NOT from BC or another coastal area, ferry rides are a rarity. I really didn't know what to expect in terms of what this "boat" would look like. It was a pleasant surprise because BC ferries are PLUSH! First of all, the things are HUGE and can hold more than 100 cars - WOW!

DePencier Bluffs

The newest bagging peak, de Pencier Bluffs, is a very pleasant adventure for the younger bagger or a bagging trail runner alike.  It makes for a very agreeable post-work bag, ideally on a sunny day. The eastern side of Seymour, with lakes, tarns, bluffs, and blueberries, and a rabbits warren of runnable trails, is not often explored but well worth it.

Duel at the Pool 2010

There was a time when, as a competitive triathlete, I did a fair bit of swimming.  I wasn't a great swimmer, but give me a wetsuit and I could swim up to 13 kilometers.  I was able to do this because I lived next door to one of the most awesome pools in the world:  Kitsilano Pool, just outside of downtown Vancouver.

New Event Host for Sweet Go Deep

Many of you have wondered whatever happened to our always smiling and chatting Cheryl, Event Host of the Go Deep and participants in many of our events in the past...

Cheryl hasn't been able to run much due to work, family and an injury.  She doesn't feel like she can take on the Sweet Go Deep scheduled for the 13th of November.

We are looking for an Event Host to take over this established event.  Details can be found here: http://www.clubfatass.com/events/godeep
