Heart Rate Training

HR Montor

Yesterday, I spent the better part of the day running a 50K in the rain with Pano Skrivanos.  Pano's a great runner, but until yesterday, he'd never run an ultramarathon.  He picked my brain clean of hints and tips for running ultras during our 6 hours together and that got me thinking about ideas to blog about.

Well It's been a crazy two weeks and an awesome way to kick off the summer.  Tina Ure who I finished the HURT 100 with in Hawaii invited me down to California for a little summer warm up.  We ran the Silver State 50 mile in Reno, ran the Western States training run in Auburn and did a 28 hour custom 3peaks run i

Trans Canada Trail Challenge

For those of you who are not going to tackle the new Club Fat Ass event "Beyond Nine Mile" in Squamish by veteran Event Host Wendy Montgomery on the 23rd of June, here is an interesting alternative:

Elk Beaver Ultras (Details)

Race packet pick-up will take place on Friday May 4 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at FRONTRUNNERS FOOTWEAR (corner of View and Vancouver Streets). A race briefing including safety instructions and introduction of seeded runners will also take place at Frontrunners at 5:00 p.m.; please make every effort to attend this meeting. If you pick your package up at 4:30, it’s easy to stay for the 5:00 meeting. Buy some new shoes!

Good luck to everybody doing Diez Vista Saturday!

It looks to be a very warm race, which is weird considering most of the training was done under monsoon like conditions. Hopefully you're all aware of the recent course changes.
I'm the aid station captain at #6, we'll try and get you hydrated and nourished and back up F U George as fast as possible. Menu choices: Potatoes: baked or roasted with a little sour cream and chives(just kidding), PBJ quesadillas, eload, chicken noodle soup with a bulb of garlic, Depending on how hot it is, you might get a popsicle, but you're not getting fruit sorbet.

Big Fat Ass 100 K

Only four people showed up for the 6 AM start of the Big Fat Ass 100K last Sunday at Brockton Oval in Vancouver’s beautiful Stanley Park.  Perhaps the torrential rains of the previous few days made people decide that staying in bed was a much more sensible way to start the day.  The four starters, Ellie, Baldwin, Gilles and Karl set out&nbs

The shoe cleaning run

I have now finished my 10 hours of running... All week I have been manipulating my schedule around my running... Monday I rested, ate worked 10.5 hours and spent the whole ,almost the whole time planning my running week. Tuesday started with a 45 minute run to my first client a 8 minute run to the next and a 38 minute run to my third. Heck it's 10 oclock and I've logged an hour and a half!

Rock and Ice - The End

I survived!  I’ve had a shower and smelling much better.  It was an amazing experience and have made some great new friends in the process.  I’ll fill you all in when I get back in a few days.  I’m holding my comments about ending the race short.  I’ll just say I was not in on it!
Thanks for all the interest
