2005 - Year 2 - Fall Mountain Highway Madness

2005 Fall Mountain Highway Madness - 15 starters - 15 finishers

As they quaffed a cool, celebratory lager at the Mosquito Creek Grill, finishers nodded in agreement. “Perfect.” “A 10 out of 10.” “’Couldn’t have been finer.” After running 15, 30 or 45 kilometers earlier in the morning, the main topic of conversation with these veterans was the weather!

Squamish Scrambler - 17 September 2005

Summer is almost over, did you make it into the mountains?
NO,I MEAN REALLY MAKE IT INTO THE MOUNTAINS...

Ever pass through Squamish and look up at Diamond Head mountain and
say, "I'd love to climb that one day?" Well, here's an opportunity to take a run at it!

Fall Mountain Highway Madness - 11 September 2005

Mountain Highway Madness is a low-key interval run. Each interval is 15
kilometers. You can do one interval or shoot for bragging rights and a
place in the records book by being the first to do five. Run against the
record book, your personal best time from the past or make it a group
training run with friends. It's held Sunday morning in the woods above
North Vancouver on a wide, dirt and gravel road that you can't get lost on.

Gluttons for Punishment

This weekend saw a Club Fat Ass first with 2 events hosted at the same day and two Club members participating in both events. The Monty went off without a glitch in beautiful Gowland Tod Provincial Park near Victoria on Vancouver Island, Canada. Doug Bodnar and Geoff Palmer took on the challenging 25km Half Monty, hopped on the ferry back to the mainland and arrived in time - well, Doug almost made it in time ;-) for the Midsummer Night version of the 7th Capilano Canyon Night Run. They definitely qualified for the "Gluttons for Punishment" category.

Spectacular views rewarded the 7 participants in the Monty. Here they are looking north to Finlayson Arm.

Capilano Canyon Night Run - A Midsummer Night's Dream

After tripping over roots during last years Midsummer Night Run and almost depatitating himself during the 2005 Mardi Gras edition Doug MacKay comes well prepared. Just in case you are curious...he arrived in one piece and claims he didn't fall, trip, stumple or hit any objects in his path during the run this year.

Full Monty Results are posted

How is that for quick. The Monty 2005 results are up at: http://www.clubfatass.com/events/FullMonty/Results
