Monty first report

Seven souls turned up good and early for the first running of the Monty. We all ran the short course today, Ludo did an amazing job today and romped home in a blistering 2:25:28, he was gamely pursued by Peter Erickson of Ocean River , Unfortunately Peter rolled an ankle trying to catch the flying Frenchman, He had 2:35:33 on his clock, third man in was Pano Skrivanos of IRR, he was telling me about his runs on Mt. Newton, he hung with Geoff and I for the first two hours, then when I told him we had 30 mins.

Badwater Post Race Show and Tell - 17 August in Port Moody

Please plan to come out to beautiful downtown Port Moody on
Wednesday, August 17, about 6-6:30 to hear all about Badwater 2005.
A $10 ticket gets you a buffet of three pastas and two salads and a
pint at Port Moody's newest pub/restaurant right on St. Johns, the
main drag through town. This place is really classy; the owner was
the original manager at the Irish pub in Newport Village and he has
done an amazing renovation job on what used to be a dark and dingy
spot. We just confirmed the date late in the week and hope to have

Matt's Badwater Race - aka turn your oven to broil and stick your head in...

Following is Carries account of Matt Session adventure at Badwater:

Oh my, where do I start?....

Ean Jackson - limping through the relay at the Stormy Trail Race

Jackson claims it didn't hurt....do you believe him?

It's a go for the 1/2 Monty

Just finished marking the course. Ludo and I spent two hours meticulously grooming and marking the official "Monty" course. Join us for the first annual "Monty" tomorrow at 10:00am.

This is a 25km ultra trail run in the beautiful Gowlland Tod Provincial Park. Hand made pottery trophies and swimming in a Ross Durance lake after the event. I am picking up at least one foot passenger from the 7:00 am ferry to Sidney. (email him to coordinate:

Carlos Castillos - Self Portrait

Carlos is concerned that he will be known as the "guy with the bleeding head".  He sent in this photo of him in good health ;-)  Carlos is hosting the Full Monty this coming Saturday, 20 August 2005 near Victoria BC.  He will also start at the Haliburton 100 Miler in September.

Fred Wickens - Fat Ass Troll

Here is my submission to the traveling shirt contest. We traveled self contained by bicycle from White Rock, BC to Puallyup, WA and back through the outstanding Seattle area trail system. This is a picture of the troll under the Aurora bridge in the Seattle area. I finally convinced him to give me my bike back.

Full Monty

So it is shaping up to be a 25K trail tour. Items needed for the event, some fluids for the run , a bathing suit and a packed lunch! I also recommend a camera. There will be water and aid at the turnaround. If you wish to come over as foot passengers, I plan to meet the ferry to pick Geoff up on Saturday morning from the 7 am. ferry in Sidney.

If anyone else needs picking up and dropping off I will do that, so all you need to do is get yourselves to the Tswaasen ferry for the 7 am. on the 20th... Please contact me if you need picking up.. @ czc@shaw.ca.

There will be handmade pottery trophies!
