Conroy: Plain Insane

Results not yet posted but CFA's Ryan Conroy just finished third at the Plain 108 (or so) mile run in Washington, one of the most brutal ultras in the world, with one of the top-12 times of all time.  Woo-hoo.

The most important Knee Knacker map ever.

The stunning new Knee Knacker website features some archival statistics of interest (finishing times, course records, and the like) but sadly omits at least one important historic record of the race:

A few BC 2008 top times

Ultrarunning Magazine is hardly comprehensive (few BC races sent in results, it seems) but it is the journal of record for the ultrarunning ultraobsessed crowd.

Their last issue was their annual Book of Lists issue, with several superb smokin'-fast BC performances among the top North America performances over the year. Woo-hoo!

More Ferg Hawke: Terry Fox Run

For those following Ferg's exploits, he has applied to be one of 12 participants in a tribute to Terry Fox's run from St. John's, NFLD to Thunder Bay, Ontario: a marathon a day for 143 days, starting on April 12th, and finishing on Labour Day.

The runners' progress will be covered in a series of CBC television specials, with the CBC working in conjunction with the Terry Fox Foundation.

Trail running names in the news: Pace, Smith & Ladner

Three ultrarunners in our neighbourhood were also featured prominently in the news over the past few weeks:

1. Go, Glenn, Go: support Glenn Pace's very worthy cause and watch him run as a solo team in the 24 Hour Relay: http://www.canada.com/northshorenews/news/live/story.html?id=e39dc5fd-2b...

2. Perhaps not so good for the training: sometime-CFA participant Dave Smith is managing Everything Wine, the huge new wine store at Marine & Mackay: http://www.bclocalnews.com/business/19541369.html
