I'm home, showered & stuffing a cold beer into my gut.
Thanks so much to everyone who pledged, passed on the info, & especially those who showed up. Thanks to Mr Crerar for posting this thread.
An especially heartfelt thanks goes out to Mrs Mud & the Mudpies for spending those long hours watching me go around & soothing what ails me.
The run:
Magnus was a happy surprise early in the day (toting a baby on his back).
Baldwin, I'm so sorry we edidn't get to run together.....you got there when I was at my lowest & wanted nothing to do with anybody....I didn't even wear my iPod. But I truly appreciated you hanging out at the aid tent. Your presence was had a calming effect whenever I popped in. You just missed Gary by a few minutes, & as you suspected, security wouldn't let the rabblerouser into the stadium (until one of the organizers handed over a fistful of passes).
Gary & Roxy....your timing was perfect. I was out of my funk & your conversation did the soul good...the pace was perfect! Best of luck at Western!
Ean, as usual your stories were quite entertaining & you maintained that perfect pace. I'm glad you didn't wreck yourself & doubly appreciated the fact that you showed up even after the Fluffy Bunny.
Suki....what can I say about a dude who shows up to run a lap at 1:00am, just to tell me he was going home & would be joining me again at 4:00am. I wouldn't have blamed you if you hit the "snooze" button one too many times. Thanks for crossing the 100 mile threshold with me....it turns out we hit it earlier than we thought (see below).
I'm too tired to type out a full-on report, or even post pictures....so here's the short of it:
The weather was perfect. Variable cloud, low humidity, with only about 30 minutes of rain at some point in the early morning....suspiciously, it hit on the lap after Jackson left. That's one helluva gift you have there!
The official donation count was close to $8500!!! Quite amazing considering these times & the fact that $3500 came in after Monday! I am so impressed & thankful with everyone who donated or forwarded the email.
The official numbers:
Easter Seals reveled the official distance to be 2.6 miles per lap.
I managed 42 laps with a sum total of 109.2 miles!!! At the time, I figured I had covered 105 miles, so the extra distance was a great surprise. Honestly, I gave it everything I had....even if I wanted to, another .8 miles would have been impossible. I called it quites at 8:16am....almost 1:1 3/4 hour left on the clock, but there was absolutely nothing left in my legs.
With this corrected distance in mind, it means I got a 100 mile PR....somewhere around the midway point of Lap 38 at aprox. 5:50am...or 19:50 total elapsed time. I'm ecstatic. I'm also glad I didn't know this beforehand...it may have had some lethargic effect on my "push".
To some, it's fast, to others it's not....but it's mine.
Thanks again for all you support....I will post pix at some point on Monday.

Glenn,
It's okay. I was just there for support. The weather was nice and the view wasn't bad either.
I can fully appreciate wanting to be alone during a long run as evidenced by Sunday's KK training run. Some pretty severe hamstring and adductor cramping coupled with a course misdirection just before the Cypress parking lot made for a very miserable and difficult run. But I stuck with it and was able to still complete the full distance to the Twin Falls Suspension bridge parking lot in 7:48. (Two years ago, that run took me 10 hours!)
I was feeling positive for about twenty seconds when I realized that no one was waiting for me in the parking lot and my car was still in Nelson Park. So once again I was alone walking up Lynn Canyon Rd, where I was able to get a beer, burrito and a ride back from Doug Keir who was just recovering from Jog for a Jug, Chip's not dead yet, and the 24 relay. Mostly from drinking, although there may have been a little running involved.
I'm happy to see you were still supported for the night portion after all. Hopefully you won't be on crutches when I see you next time.

Just got back from running 3 laps with Glenn. He completed his 30th lap around 1:00 am and is on track to achieve his goal of running 110 miles in 24 hours.
He doesn't have anyone running with him now and isn't expecting anyone until Suki arrives around 7:00. If you're having insomnia, I'm sure he'd appreciate your pacing him for a couple of the 4K loops.
Note: You'll need a red wrist band to get into the track, so best you aim to meet Glenn on the back side of the stadium where he leaves the track (that or get one from a relay runner who is going home.) If you get onto the track, Glenn's tent is the black Montrail one in the east side just off the track.

I didnt see Gary, but suspect everybody in the North Shore is being rerouted due to 2nd Narrows Br being temporarily shut down. There are reports of a jumper. It's gonna take as long as it's gonna take.
Glenn's better now. There has been SOME dispute on how long each lap is this year. People are saying it's 4.5km, offically Easter Seals is saying 4km. I talked to Dave as I was leaving. The course has always been 3.8km. But due to some construction, instead of taking the 7-11 bike path into Central park, runners are now diverted down Patterson to Kingsway, then running along Kingsway to enter the park on the left. Dave GPSd the new course and it's 4.2km. So it's 400m longer than previous years.
Glen's goal is 110 miles in 24 hours. 110 miles is 176km. 176km/4.2 lap = 42 laps.
Oh no, I've just realized, the reason I didnt see Gary may be because his arrival time is after 6pm. U need a wristband to get into the stadium. NO EXCEPTIONS. And since there are 4 gates into the stadium, and there's no crew for Glenn currently, there's no one to let them in. D'OH!

Just spoke to Robbins. He'll take the 9:30 shift and I'll aim to swing by around 11:00. Did the Fluffy Bunny today, so not sure how long I'll last, but sure want to help in any way I can.

Harsh a kids camp closes due to lack of funding. Too easy to think that charities have endless money. Thanks, Glenn, you've made it easy for us to help out.
Yes...definitely a worthy cause...which is why it was an easy decision to give it another go.
Without support & fundraising, the camps would close down & these kids could lose out on a very important part of their Calendar.
I met Jesse Turnbull last year & it was only then that I really unnderstood the impact that the Easter Seal summer camp has on him & on so many kids lives. For many of them, it really is the highlight of the year. It's a chance to make lifelong friends, create some memories, & play with other kids in an equalizing environment.
Aside from all that, ithe relay makes for a fun weekend!

Awesome Run Glenn!
Hey Glenn, very impressive run out there on Sat-Sun, Roxy and I really enjoyed getting out for some night running with ya!
Congrats on your solid fundraising as well...and ummm, I don't think anyone will ever argue that a sub 20hr 100m isn't damn FAST!!!
