Sunday morning saw the start of the annual BMO Grouse Grind Run, as well as a new record from previous holder Sebastian at something around 23mins. Wow!! My first time up grouse in 7 years and second in total, I finished with a time of 36mins, 20 seconds behind 1st placer in my age category (13-19). A distance of about 400m was added at the summit which extended my time - my timing for the classic grind was just over 34mins. Ensuing is a cocktail of gatorade, water, coffee, and syrupy hot chocolate made of real melted cocoa that needed water diluting, as well as a massage from one of the tents set up in the area, a silver medal, and 2nd place prizes (a stunning merrell bag with t-shirt and socks).
With rested legs and massive fluid intake, I sold my complimentary spectator gondola ticket to a happy couple for half-price, setting off to bag Dam mountain and Goat mountain for kicks, and coming back to the resort to watch the hilarious lumberjack show and bird show, complete with a hawk's gliding feathers meet my hair as it flew to its perch.
Before heading back down the BCMC, I run into a fellow CFA member (Now forgive me, I cannot for the life of me remember your name - My first two-weeks of university had me meet and attempt to retain a grossed exageration of 300+ students, most encounters superficial) - if you recognize yourself, please leave a comment! Out I go, goodies transfered in the new merell bag on my back, and tennis bag (that had been transported up by race organizers) strapped over my shoulders. A friendly group of three hikers give me rough directions to the entrance of the BCMC trail, and to our surprise, we coincidentally meet at the bottom as we finish - them taking the gondola and I, the trail, totalling 31mins down. I finish my day snacking at Lonsdale and taking the seabus (how wonderful!) and skytrain home.
P.S. - I am somewhere in the pic. Find waldo!

Congrats, Navid!
34 minutes for the Grind, eh? Wow! I've not done the race, but I always wondered how you'd pass someone if you wanted to.
That was me, Navid!
Navid, it was so cool to read about your great day. Sounds like you had fun. I just posted details of my day over on the Bagger Challenge page. My 4-year-old son and I both thought it was so cool to bump into a fellow Club Fat Ass member at Grouse.
Hope to see you at some club events this fall and winter. Cheers!
