Hi, I just became a member, everything sounds like so much fun!!
Anyhoo, my name is Chris I'm a 39 year old paramedic from Swift Current, Sask. I am going to try to get into running ultras next year (have the Queen city marathon to concentrate on this year)
So as a newbie ultrarunner I may, if you let me, be picking your respective brains for advise and guidance.
I am trying to run a BQ this year in Regina, in Sept. I'll let you know how that goes :)
I am entered to run a local half next saturday, but am trying to rehab shin splints (don't ask, my own dumb ass fault!)
Well just wanted to say Hi and look forward to chatting with you and possibly meeting some of you out there on the run...

How is your running year coming along, Chris
Hey Chris,
Just stumbled upon this thread and thought I check in with you. Hope you had a successful year running wise so far and that those shin splints have settled?
Sibylle
Hey Fat Ass...
Get used to it... especially if you plan to wear your club colors at races!
Welcome to the club, Chris.
Say, what's a paramedic doing with shin splints? If you were in Vancouver, I'd have gladly hobbled through the XTC with you this past Saturday. At some point, I'd probably have gently suggested you get off the roads and onto the trails with those shins. Mind you, as the most consistently damaged Fat Ass, you might be best off doing the opposite of what I do.
Good luck with your 1/2 next weekend!
Hi, thanks for the
Hi, thanks for the welcome....well, nobody ever said I was a smart paramedic, the shin splints just took me by surprise, damn sneaky buggers!!!
I did start running on grid roads, not much for trails in SW Sask!!!....Sadly i may miss the half this saturday, gonna get this leg better and then ease back into for a week or two, racing wouldn't help with that i don't think....life will go on though....right??....tell me it will!!!
Welcome to Club Fat Ass, Chris!
Just received your membership reg and your shirt will be in the mail on Monday, you'll also will get an official welcome message from your Chief Executive Fat Ass (moi) in you inbox soon (just back from a 25km trail run and I am a bit bushed right now ;-)
Feel free to ask all the questions you like...picking brains might be hard, as I am not sure if Fat Ass's have brains...
Anyway, would be nice to meet you in person.

Now I know this club is for me, being welcomed by the big kahuna herself....colour me special
I'm glad you said there are no brains here, I think I'll fit in nicely, my last brain cell was destroyed in a freak accident with an ice cream truck!!
Anyway thanks for the welcome
