Transrockies Night Before-calf injury?

Well, I've been fighting a calf injury all week. Chris has been working on it for me and I thought I shook it off yesterday but today it was very painful on our run. Nice easy warm up, but I could not run that well down. I just finished another light massage so we'll see what tomorrow brings.

I've not had an inujury for a very long time, and the timing of this is not great. However, I'm confident we'll run well with Chris on our side. He said he is going to work on it tomorrow hard if he has to. He mentions "soleus" and "not good" but I say "ultra runner" and "stubborn".

Today Phil and I checked in, chatted to a bunch of folks and tried to relax. I met up with Glen Redpath who has been tearing up the scene and the Skagg brothers. Eric won Wasatch 100 miler last week and I heard he set a course record!

Phil is ready to roll. As I write this, he is getting a light hamstring massage. No squirming in pain tonight. The good news is on our run today my heart rate was 10 bpm lower than it was on Thursday at the same intensity so it seems my system is getting used to the altitude.

We start at 10:00 am tomorrow morning. A short day, only about 25 km, but  a healthy 4500 feet or so of climbing and a couple thousand descent. Then we hit the long days. We'll call tomorrow a warm up and I am going to have to put a leash on Phil for sure!!

Until tomorrow

Ciao

for Phil's blog and pics (because I can't figure out how to load pics on this-They are on my lap top desk top-not on a url??)

How's it going in the Trans-Rockies?

How's the calf?  I was thinking of you while out on a little Stein Valley adventure run this past weekend.  Tell all!

Best of Luck, Dom!!

I'm sure there are more than a few Fat Asses that are looking forward to your reports on this inaugural event. Hope things go well, & stay away from lighting! Glenn

Hi Dom,

Hi Dom,

We are using the greatness of Flickr for our photos. Instructions are here. Using Flickr eliminates uploading to multiple sites for folks with several blogs etc. Just use the great features on flickr and upload once. You can even upload photos via email. If you really get fancy, you can set up uploading your photos directly into your blog (they are supporting the major ones) and/or your CFA blog. Tagging the photos according to the instructions on the weblink above automatically posts the photos into the "badges" that pop up on various pages of our website. You can also add a Flickr badge to your blog on Wordpress, Blogger etc....Enough said, Flickr is the best photo uploading and sharing site - best of all it's free and easy!
