Stormy Photos

Just got a very brief phone call from Dom Repta and Lucinda Barbeau with an update from the Stormy 100 Miler.  Ryne Melcher is in the lead by about 45 min. Unfortunately, John Machray pulled out.

Lucinda posted some photos at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gillesylucy/tags/stormy/

Hope all is going well...

....wish I could be there to see some of the action & help out, but I appreciate the updates so that us couch potatoes can follow along at home....or on our blackberries.

Sorry to hear that John pulled out.
How's Rick Arikado doing?
How's the rest of the gang doing?
Is Dan cracking his pacer-whip?

Latest update after a bit of sleep

Maureen and I actually called it quits for our aid station around 5 am
Rick was in super shape. He looked great and was in top spirits.
Gilles, Chad, Shirlee and Janice all came into our station together. They were all a little tired but what can you expect. They were happy the worst was over and I am confident that they will all finished. The language was getting about as dirty as their sweaty bodies, but it really was making them laugh.
THis morning I got a note that Time DNF'd at the station after ours. In this case I would call it more like his body choosing to do 75sh miles instead of the full amount. His brain was willing but the body did not quite cooperate. It was a valiant effort and my hat goes off to him.
Ryne was having knee problems so I am not sure if he would be able to finish.
Tracey was looking a little more tired than when she started but she looked strong.
Peter Vilawhatever, looked strong as well..
Also, there was an incident with 2 large black bears that impeded Tim and Daniels way and 3:30 in the morning. I quickly put all thefood in my trunk (just in case - priorities have to be considered) and drove aroun the hood to keep them away
Bragging notes on our aid station: We had popsicles during the day, skors at any hour, and delicious homebaked chocolate chip oatmeal cookies from Maureen. What better incetive to run 100 miles or at least 71 which is where I aid station ended.

Also, I wanted to post the midnight update and walked around the neighbourhood until I could poach someone's wifi. So the midnight post is courtesy of the perth dr neighbours

Until next time.

Midnight Update

Perth Dr Aid Station:
56 miles and then again at 71

Ryan, Randy and Peter have all passed the 76 mile mark. Tracey is probably not far behind.
Bill Dagg and Tim Wiens are struggling a bit with tummy problems, but we are confident they will continue on their quest for their first 100 miler.
Gilles and Chad are running side by side with grins from ear to ear.
The next 2 gals (Shirlee and Janice ) are accpmpanied by Mo the Eagle and all three look great. Mo is charming the ladies with his singing and the gals are in hoots.

Please note all times and mileage are approximate as Maureen and I have no real clue at this point.

Go 100 milers Go!  The sun

Go 100 milers Go!  The sun is up and according to Glen and other veterans the "second" wind should propel you right now ;-)

I am almost ready and packed for the drive to the finish line...Hope to see everybody there!  Good luck to all the 50 Milers as well.
