Hi fellow Club Fat Assers,
Sorry for delay in getting you guys some additional information on the 2007 RUN TO THE CLOUDS event. It has been very busy... The good news is, the run is on. The better news is, I believe the changes we have made to the course for this year will only make the run even better! This years route will be 100% off road, so will be a challenging trail run for those who like to plonk through the woods.
After feedback on last years route, and looking in our backyard here I have come up with a new route that figure 8's Buntzen Lake and Lesser Buntzen (the smaller lake north of the suspension bridge), but doesn't eliminate the climb up to the top look-out on Eagle Ridge powerline, so will maintain close to 2000' of elevation gain over the run. I also extended the route a few km's to make it 25 km this year as apparently 22 km was not enough fun!
Note: There will be support 2 stops on this new route, one that you pass twice so no section longer than about 8km between fluid and treats support.
Date: Sunday May 27th
Location: Start-finish will be at Buntzen Lake recreation area, Port Moody BC
Time: 10:00 am
Distance: 25 km
Terrain: Mostly gravel topped trails, some gravel road sections
Hills: Yes. Couldn't call it "run to the clouds" if it didn't have hills
After: Local pub Golden Spike, in Port Moody, 10 minutes drive from finish line
Fun: Definitely
Please preregister on line so we have some indication of how many runners will be coming out (nice to know for support etc).
See ya soon,
Pete SS (CFA Event Host)
