Challenge in the Pure Satisfaction

What comes after a morning of fun in the sun and snow at the Club Fat Ass MMFR?  Come and find out on Dec 10 at Pure Satisfaction.  I can promise you distance, terrain, weather and time, all in the extreme nature of a classic course on the North Shore.

Pure Satisfaction has been running for 3 years and this, the fourth, will be as uniquely challenging as the rest.  I've confirmed the trail is covered in snow and has extensive blow-downs due to our normal atmospheric conditions for this time of year. Besides the usual slippery terra firma scattered throughout the route there is also a fresh washout to contend with.

For those not familiar with the Baden Powell Trail, I'll ask you to show up with someone that has been from Deep Cove to Lynn Canyon and back before. Either that or hook up with one of our friendly CFA types that is always more than happy to share the trail experience. The trail is marked but winding and tricky.

Register now and be there Sunday for an 0830h departure or squarely miss out on a refreshing voyage through the tall trees with the coolest runners this side of Forest Hills ...

BP Trail

I went for my Sunday run starting at Panorama Park there for the first time, and there is lots of blown down trees, and frozen slush and ice on all the bridges and staircases.  I went with my dog Shazam and despite - or perhaps because of - the frozen mess there was lots of fun to be had.  I didn't bring the instructions for Pure Satisfaction so we got lost up by the road we were supposed to turn onto when we just plowed straight up by what looked like a trail marker with no sign so we just barged around in the snow for a while, and then on the way back I dropped my sunglasses climbing under the bushes past the lookout and didn't realise it until we were almost back at the car so we went back for them.  The only thing that seemed really unsafe was some of the longer bridges are really weighed down with slush and ice and they really bounce if you go across quickly, we might want to limit traffic at one time across the big one after the big blowdown near the beginning.  It seemed like it might snap with just me and Shazam!

Thanks for the update

Thanks for the update.  I've been on some more urban trails this weeks and the amount of blowdown was unbelievable.  Add to that the snow/slush/ice that still adornes part of the BP, I think we are all up for a little adventure on Sunday.

As with all CFA events, please come prepared for the conditions and distances and make sound judgements on when to call it quits in the name of safety!
