What a weekend. We had three events within 24h and some CFA members managed to do a "Double". Baldwin Lee and Geoffrey Palmer bagged the "Triple", which put Baldwin into a clear lead in the 2006 Point Series. To check out the standings go to: http://www.clubfatass.com/contests/pointseries/2006

Baldwin, You Stud... Watch Your Back!
Spreading yourself a little thin, hmm?
You're absolutely right, the year isn't over. There's still at least seven events left in the season and you're the Event Host for one of them. So even if we go head to head for all of them, you'll most likely win it in the end.
And since I'm going to be on vacation this weekend I'll miss at least two events, that's four points right there.
Of course, you will still have to do them. And that's not counting the Great White Shark vs Mako Shark duel in the pool.
I find it interesting that last year's winner, Craig, won with 30 points and 12 events. I've got 30 points and 12 events and the year isn't over.
I also find it interesting that December only has one CFA event: Pure Satisfaction. Guess who has a birthday a week later? That would be a good time to host an event, wouldn't you say?
Yes, Ean, it's going to be VERY interesting at the end. And I haven't forgotten Knee Knacker, my number was 147, what was yours?
Competition in the Point Series
Yo Baldwin,
Hummmm.... looks like my only hope is to pick up more trash and call up all of my old running buddies and ask them to sign up to the Club, eh? I don't think the "Duel at the Pool" will count because it's just a grudge match, so you can sleep tight at Burning Man knowing I won't catch you there...but the Juan de Fuca run is quite the different matter. Also, at the rate I've been going lately I'm due to flame out.
Stay healthy!
Hey, no flaming allowed!
Have fun at Juan de Fuca, it's looks to be a great run. I don't think I'll be sleeping much at BM, what with the all night raves and all day dust storms going on.
I'll see you at Mtn Madness!
Point Series and other Musings
Interesting stats you are pointing out. I guess the point series is really getting people involved and if you are up in the pecking order you want to make sure not to miss an event. Also, remember, you can earn points for referals, thus staying ahead of Ean. I will scoop some of the points for the remaining events (and Ean will stay home at the ranch with the kids, so there is hope). But watch your back, I am right up there in the count (I will take my name off the list should I go into first place - but it is a thrill)
Do I hear you musing about hosting a event in December to celebrate your birthday? Cool. Let's talk.
Cheers
Sibylle
Ironically, this isn't even the contest I wanted to win.
It's the New Years Resolutions which is my current focus. H2H is my last event and I still have to run a sub 4:00 marathon and do 60 days of yoga. Yikes.
Sure, I was gunning for Norco Pete for the longest time, but it was never my intention to challenge for the lead. Bill Dagg deserves some of the blame for putting the idea of doing a triple CFA in 24 hours in my head, and even then I was looking at 6 points. If it wasn't for the fact that I got two bonus points (sweeper at 1/2 monty and referral at Cap night run), the point series race wouldn't be as close as it is now.
I do want to set a run in Burnaby and I do have a course in mind, granted the Burnaby Mountain Run did steal my thunder, but I have a revised, nastier version as a backup with customizable sections depending on ability. I'll run some of it as training for H2H and I'll let you know.
