Report: It was wet, it was mild, it was wonderful! The overwhelming feeling of the run this year from feedback received so far is that the temperature and the water combined to make this event totally fun and enjoyable. In past years I've had runners shivering at the start line hoping the run would start very quickly. This year we were cool but mostly wet and the rain didn't even come down that hard once the run began.
It was a great turnout of 38 starters and lots of variety with custom runs and dogs leading runners astray. The speedsters were out and the newbies were in full force. I'm sorry if you got lost - I updated the course instructions though so I'm not too sorry. I'm sorry if you got wet - I put in a special call for sunshine but all we got was the liquid kind. And I'm sorry if you missed out on the warmth of Delany's Coffee House at the end, along with a few prizes for those lucky enough to turn up there for a run review and previews of what each of us has in store for the next one.
A shout out to all those that stayed in bed under the covers ... you missed a fun one. A reminder to sign up for the New Year's Day Fat Ass 50 and Freeze Some Crazy Parts of Your Sore Body Swim. And thanks very much to everyone, especially the multi-year participants of Pure Satisfaction, for coming to join us for a swim on the trails today.
By the way, was that a new 25km course record by Mike Palichuk??? In fact, I think the first three finishers scored big time over the previous record of 2:47 by Ryan Conroy. Nice!
Thanks to Kintec, Sugoi, TrailRunner Mag and Gottfried Grosser for the draw prizes

Time: 4:48. My distance category should probably be changed to "custom" - pretty sure I did at least an extra 10k! (I promise to abide by the Club motto, "...no whining, no whimps") Fun run, great trail! Sorry I missed my fellow explorer of the alternate senic route, Eric, at Delany's afterwards - sorry Eric, but I just had to tack on that extra 6k at the end by missing the last turn back to the suspension bridge!

Did you run all the way down to the next bridge on Lynn River? That is a sneaky turn.... Sorry, no extra distance for getting lost ;-) but I will note it on your time, so you know when you compare times for next year...

Had to look it up on google maps- I ran past the next bridge and down to the playing fields behind Cap University to what google maps calls Inter River Park. It was a nice trail, very runnable! Don't worry about the special "lost" designation on my time, I'm not worried about it - and I don't really know how many lost km I did anyway.

Craig,
Great event, liked the constant river running put me down for DNF and Stetson down for a severe telling off. He was retrived by a mountain biker somewhere up by the powerlines and I collected him down from Riverside Drive (dog warm and dry, owner cold and wet)

Your dog went off track after Hyannis Dr.
Stetson passed Daryl and I at that point, and went on what turned out to be Bridle Path. We actually did the same thing he did, and got lost for a bit.
We met up with Stetson some time after going the wrong way; he was clearly looking for you, while running along with us for a bit. He had a better sense of where we were supposed to go, though, as he started to head back in the right direction. We tried to get him to stick with us, but he wouldn't. We were near the bridge under the power lines we he left us. I thought Stetson would find you easily -- I didn't realize we were so far off BP.
I'm afraid we probably helped getting your dog confused, as he saw familiar people headed the wrong way. Sorry.
As for us, we headed down the power lines for a while, confused by a random orange triangle on a tree (no "BP" though to be fair). A group of hickers put us back on the right track: we did the Seymour climb under the power lines, joining up with Mushroom parking lot trail, and back down on BP.

You were so off course ;-) The left you took was one left to early....across the bridge and down Bridle as opposed to 10m more straight and then left towards the Seymour Grind.

Thanks yet again Craig, I've almost dried out. Mark Feng, I think it was Adrian Powell and myself did the 25km in about 4:15. Do I get mentoring points for keeping two newbies on track for their first Pure Satisfaction run. In fact for Mark it was his very first Club Fatass run!
Thanks also Bill Dagg for waiting and offering me a lift home, I really appreciate that.

Thanks Craig, a sodden 3:17 for me - splashing without a care through the puddles at the base of the Seymour Grind on the return was the "high" point...

Craig, same for Reagan (he and Jess arrived about 30sec before me), followed by moi, then Jackie and David Montgomery. Did I mention I love the puddles, aka rivers. Being a kid again, and oh my shoes were so clean. Sorry for all my vocalizations guys....
Garbage for me and Reagan, too. Can't remember if David and Jackie picked some up...all we saw were bright green, FULL, doggie bags.

Course is better the other way around, IMHO
My distance and points
Distance: Oh, somewhere in the neighbourhood of 4 km return (it took only 2 km before I couldn't run anymore :( ).
Time: Irrelevant
Points: 2+1 (I picked up garbage)
Thanks for organizing.

Thanks for organising a fun soggy run. My result was 3:12 for the 25km (David Parker)
The scouts say the built the Baden-Powell
The scouts say they built the Baden-Powell. It's all a lie; at best an overstatement. The whole thing is a creek bed, water did all the work.
This was an awesome run, and quite a bit harder than I thought it would be. Thanks a lot.
