As you know it's freaking cold out. I love it but Please come prepared for a few hours in the snow. Gaiters are a good idea duck tape works good too. and maybe an extra pair of gloves and a good hat and wind breaker.
Claudia see if you can bum some chains off the guys just in case.

We will still be running up on galbraith. the bushwhack section of the trail is just impassable in the snow. since it's through a clear cut. I went up today and couldn't find a good way through. we can still go to the falls but they'er not very impressive unless you get up close and it will mean we will have to hike back up 500ft on a road. I'm suggesting we run a loop down though whatcom falls (more impressive) then up to the top of galbraith and back.

Driving conditions are bad at best. Check out Lakeyway dr in front of my house. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dontaskwhy/3118856649/ If you are planning on coming to the event. Please allow time for driving conditions and I would suggest you have either 4 wheel drive or bring chains. there's a 1ft drift in the median of the road.
The weather forecast calls for temp's in the 20's or way below freezing for you in Can. and wind but clear for the first part of the day. the snow on the trail is on average 10" deep.
Please email me pesonaly for more info or post here. If attending the event Please email me before leaving so I know who's on there way. and if not shoot me an email so I know who's not. endurance79@comcast.net my cell is 360 927 6036 if you end up running late.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the update, I've been checking your website to see how things progress with the weather. I'd be honest that my vehicle is a regular 7-seater van with all season tires and no chains. Do you think in this realistic setting that could work?
I'm an adventoruous person, at times risker, but wait to hear from you to see if a vehicle such as mine could make it without major hurdles without risking unnecesarily.
We have agreed on getting together at 7:30 a.m. at my place in Richmond, which is literally 30 minues from the Peace Arch border. Wondering if we need more time than this.
I've been looking forward to this run. Please keep us posted

The start area is only 2 miles from the freeway and they have plowed a bit so you should be ok. I have a 4x4 if there needs to be an extraction. the free way looks good and you should have enough time to make it down. there is a donut shop just across from the park at the gas station if you get here early. you have my # if your late too. My only concern is that it's suppose to snow in the after noon. I'd make sure to hit the freeway before it does the side roads will get bad quick.

This will be my first CFA event. Just as a little 'hello' to the group, and hopefully this will be incentive for more people to show up, I am making homemade oatmeal raisin cookies. Yum!

Hey Dan,
It's widely acknowledged that I am a big suck when it comes to rain, but I love running in the snow. It's puking north of the border right now and I am so jazzed...
However, it looks like my recovery streak came to an end on Sunday at Pure Satisfaction. Looks like the plantar f-word, which not only bodes poorly for my participation in your run, but also for all of those runs and snowshoe adventures I had planned over the next 2 months. Sigh...
The good news is that there will be one more seat available in Claudia's Happy Bus heading down from Vancouver.
All the best to your Mom... and hope you have a Merry Christmas.

Yes the Galbraith mtn tour is still a go. there will most likely be lots of snow as it is snowing out right now. I did a 5hr run this last weekend up on Galbraith with the local gang check out the pictures here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dontaskwhy/sets/72157611355530114/
There may possibly be a foot of snow on Saturday but the run will still be on. Please come prepared for the weather
Please check back often the next few days for updates.
Hey Michael, I would be willing to carpool. Where do you live? I would be even more inclined if you were willing to make a stop in Fairhaven to get some famous carrot cake with about an inch of frosting from the Colophon cafe, that is the only reason I am doing this run! :) Feel free to email me: ilanabalint@gmail.com to arrange.
