Location:
Malcolm Knapp Research Forest, Maple Ridge, BC
Possible Cancellation Notice: Snow is currently forecast for the Maple Ridge area. Should it be necessary to cancel the event a notice will be posted on this site no later than 6 PM, Friday, January 31, 2009.
What: A run on the Yours Truly course.
Why: Because the Pure Foolishness 50K has been cancelled due to do poor trail conditions and the Fools are very concerned about their lack of hill training for the Coyote Two Moon 100 Miler in March.
Who: The Fools and anyone who wants to join in the fun.
Where: Malcolm Knapp Research Forest in Maple Ridge. Meet in the parking lot. For some interesting information and a short history of the Forest, as well as directions for how to get there go to the Forest website: http://www.mkrf.forestry.ubc.ca/general/index.htm
When: Saturday, January 31, 2009
Course:The route is entirely up to you, but the same roads used by the Yours Truly 50K are highly recommended. They consist entirely of moderate elevation changes on non-technical gravel roads. The latest reports indicate that the 10K loop is snow-free except for the Road E connector between Roads F & K. The upper sections of the 25K loop are snow covered, but runnable. There may be icy sections, traction devices are recommended. This may change of course, depending on the amount of snow that falls before Saturday.
Depending on course conditions the Fools may be doing up and down repeats on Road K.
Here is a link to Rob Lang’s Yours Truly website where you can find maps of both the 10K and 25K loops: http://rlyt.multiply.com/info.msnw
Aid: Be prepared to be completely self-sufficient. There is no water or other aid available, so you will only be able to resupply yourself at your vehicle.
Results: Please print your name, distance and time on the results sheet which will be available at the start/finish. Or you may send an email to Karl at the contact link below.
Entry: There is no fee and you don't need to be a member of Club Fat Ass to participate in a Flash event, however whining is not allowed. No registration is required but please indicate your participation via the comment form below. You are responsible for your own well being and safety and should be self sufficient.
Please read the Release of All Claims. By participating in this event you agree to the terms of the Release of All Claims.

Foolishly Yours Roll-Your-Own Run Results
Congratulations to all who participated last weekend. Being under the weather I unfortunately missed a much needed training run.
Lorrie and Barry's run in the Okanagan had 14,000 feet of elevation gain. Great training for the Coyote Two Moon 100 Miler. By the end of their run there was six cm of fresh snow on the ground.
Claudia has already reported on her run. She's a highly motivated woman. Way to go Claudia!
Gilles and Chad decided to cut their run short to pick up some bonus miles at the Black Sheep Pub instead. Apparently the fauna there is more interesting than what can been seen on the MKRF course. I wish is could have been there.
Carolyn and Neil had a nice romantic run on their own at the Forest. Fortunately they did not encounter any Fools.

Making it count
Of course we can make it count Claudia. The event was advertised as "roll-your-own" so, from a purely legal viewpoint, there is no requirement that you run on the Yours Truly course.
As far as I'm aware Lorie, Barry, Gilles, Chad and yourself are the only participants. As soon as I have every-one's results I'll post them.
Thank you, I did have fun. Lorraine and I went looking for curtain material. Positively exhilarating.
Foolishly yours roll your own
Sick
I'm out with a cold/flu that hit me Monday morning. I was hopefull that it would be gone enough by Saturday, but that just isn't going to happen given my current conditon. It's in the lungs, so I think it would be unwise to attempt to run.
If you do the run would you please email me your distance and time so I can post the results.
Get better soon!
Hope you get better soon. The little Jackson was home last week and part of this one with this nasty virus that is going around. Apparently of close to 30 kids in his class only 15 were there yesterday. Similar scenario in my daughters class, but she seems to be virus repellant this year (after last years on going sickness she deserves it). I am staying close to her ;-)
I won't make the run, as we have several committments already.
In for this one
Disappointed
You're certainly not the only one who's disappointed Claudia.
All this global warming is really screwing up our training.
