Course Description:

The # refers to the trail numbers as shown on the official park map available at the Park Centre.

DIRECTIONS FOR THE 10K LOOP: Start and Finish is the gate at the parking lot entrance.

  • Go north through the back of the parking lot onto #2, Cleveland to #10, Heron.
  • Left onto Heron to #21, Salish.
  • Left again onto Salish and across 16th to the continuation of Salish.  Stay on Salish until you reach #12, Imperial trail.
  • Left on Imperial to #22, Sasamat.
  • Right on Sasamat to junction of #19, St. Georges.
  • Right on St. Georges to Camosun Street.
  • Right on Camosun Street, just after the school on your right you will see a trail entrance, take that short trail to the big information board at the corner of Camosun, 41st Ave and S.W. Marine Dr.
  • Take the SW Marine trail that parallels the highway.  After about .75 K you will come to an intersection.
  • Go right for a very short distance and then left onto the trail that goes into the forest.
  • This is trail #21, Salish.  Do not take the Clinton trail #3 or the trail that continues to parallel the highway.
  • Follow Salish, Heron and Clevland all the way back to the Park Center.
  • Do it again and again and....  Reverse directions if you want a change of scenery.

Lap Counting:  You are responsible for counting your own loops.

Results:  If you want to be included in the results print your name, distance or loops and time on the sheet that will be under the windshield wiper of Karl's silver Dodge Grand Caravan licence 280 LCT.

NICE JOB FOOLS!

Looks like Paps was movin' out there!

Time

I did 3 laps in 3:10, plus a couple of K. (1st: 1h10, 2nd: 1h, 3rd: 1h)

I was going for another lap or two, but immediately after starting lap 4, one of my legs acted up, so I decided to head back.

I hope everybody's head is OK -- mine is fine, barely touched the ground. That was a tracherous patch of ice.

Thanks for the event Karl.

What has 10 legs and goes "Thunk!"

5 Fat Asses falling on black ice at the same time!

For a beautiful morning at the start of a fine run, hitting ice was the last thing I would have expected.  From the back of the pack, it looked like 5-pin bowling.  Folks hit the slick pavement very hard.  How's the noggin, Karl?  The knee, the back, the knuckles and the pride, John?

While it was a bit crisp at the start, the day turned out to be a beauty.  Many thanks for fine run, Karl.

Noggin

The noggin is fine Ean.  You can't hurt rocks.

Sometimes it's good to be late!

Ouch...sorry to hear about the slippery start - good to hear everyone is OK!

There were plenty of Gerbils running around out there today - fun!

Carolyn

Woohoo!

I will be there for 4 laps, each one slower than the last.  :)  Jess

Three laps

I'll probably only do three slow laps.

If my van isn't in the parking lot when you finish please email me your time and distance by clicking on my name above and then "send this user a message".  If you want to post a comment to the run site please click on "Add a new comment" at the bottom of the site.

I'm down with the cause too.

I'm down with the cause too. For the 1st 3 laps anyway...

Go Henry!!!  (Don't get too

Go Henry!!!  (Don't get too fast, though, K?)

A 20 to 30k run...

...in the Pacific Spirit Park sounds inviting. I'm in.

Maybe 3 loops?

Not absoultely sure yet, but rolling my own 30k sounds nice and Pacific Spirit would be a good choice.  I'll know closer to Saturday but sounds promising.

 Alan's talking about doing

Alan's talking about doing two or three loops as well James, if having a little extra company helps you decide.

I'm definitely hopeful ...

With my knee tweak, Dave, I'm going to try to test 20-30k Saturday and then another 20k or so Sunday, so maybe just 20 both days ...  Guess you guys will both be there?  Of course Sunday will depend on the knee if I do Saturday.

Sounds Foolish...

That sounds positively foolish... I'm in.

Calling all gerbils...

It's looking more and more like I'll be in town for this Foolish Gerbil. So in the hopes of encouraging a few more gerbils to come out... Even if you've got something planned for Saturday morning... or if you only want to do a couple of lassos ... I hope you'll come come out! Company on the trails is always appreciated! and who knows maybe I'll even treat the the last person(s) looping the final lasso with me to a 'Cinny Bun'... (as long as the Cinny Bun place is open...some other warm tasty treat otherwise).

Cheers...

Another Chance

Well, Rachel, you have another chance to run in circles.  We'll do an 80K version on January 22.

Hope you can make this one.

I'm there!

Not out of town! I'll be there doing the loopdie-loops... aiming to do the max ;0 ...

A partial statement of the obvious...

Unless out of town, I'll be there! Great that you should post this today -- I was looking fondly at the Foolish Gerbil route earlier this afternoon... I'll let you know if I'm going to be a no-show... Thanks for posting the FLASH!
