Sort Of Expected It

Always a gamble this time of year, but not such a great idea with the weather the way it is. Will come up again next year ... possibly as an in/out Happy Halloween Everyone

Thanks Mudrunner

I should probably specify what I meant by weather permitting ... Realistically the chances of this going off are slim at this time of year ... but looking around today would be absolutely amazing up there. It'll be a no go if the weather is not cooperative and that unfortunately includes rainfall prior to the event which would make the creek crossings dangerous. Fingers crossed though!

It's a great trail!

...but don't be fooled by the distance...it feels a lot further. The warnings about swollen creeks shouldn't be taken lightly. There was a n instance a couple of years ago where a couple of experienced packers made it to the hut with ease, but overnight rains had swollen the creek to such a degree, that they had to stay put. Fortunately, they had enough supplies to while away the day(s), but Search & Rescue still went in to see if all was OK. Other than that, it's a gorgeous outing...& with any luck, there is still a flask of whiskey in the hut. Have fun!
