Location:
North Vancouver, BC Canada
What: Many years ago, a jet crashed into the side of Grouse Mountain. While most of the wreckage has long since been removed, a jet turbine remains. It's very close to a nice running trail, so it makes a great destination for a Sunday outing with friends and family.
Why: Because it's there... and it's kind of cool to see!
Who: Anyone who can run/hike for a couple of hours including children over 8 and non-runners.
When: Date is still TBD in consultation with interested parties. It has to be a Saturday or Sunday and it would be best to do this on a sunny, August morning and make a picnic out of it. We would aim to start and finish near Edgemont Village in North Vancouver, Canada.
More: There are apparently several airplane crash sites within an hour of downtown Vancouver. One, off Seymour Mountain, was discovered by a Club Fat Ass member! I hope that finding and documenting these sites will become a fun way to discover some new areas of the north shore mountains while learning a bit about the local history. I recommend the details be worked out with comments below.
Entry: There is no fee and you don't need to be a member of Club Fat Ass to participate in a Flash event, however whining is not allowed. No registration is required but please indicate your participation via the comment form below. You are responsible for your own well being and safety and should be self sufficient.

Plane Crash Site Near Cypress Mountain
While I'm thinking about it, here are the GPS coords of another crash site for another day... this one on Mt. Strachan (Cypress ski area).

I understand this is a Canadian Forces T-33 Trainer jet that crashed in 1963.
Mt Strachan crash
Yep I've seen it. Great trail as well. I was thinking of doing a run to Hollyburn Peak, coming off the backside then up to Strachan; the wreckage isn't too far from the trail.
