Video

Took a while, but I finally got around putting together the video clips I took during my run that day:

Flash - Dam Foolish 33 1/3 Mile Trail Run - Results

Only four people toed the starting line at 7AM on Monday, but it seems that the good weather energized Sibylle, Claudia and Baldwin who did custom runs.

Lorie and Barry ran the Zumbro 100K in Minnesota on Saturday.  Barry's feet were still giving him some pain so he wisely decided to take a rest day.  Lorie couldn't think of an excuse, so she started with the other three.

It was a nice surprise to meet Sibylle who ran from her home near Mosquito creek.  John completed his intended distance and left the group to run home shortly before we got to the Grouse Skyride.  Lorie had to leave for some family business, but came back later and completed the return to Deep Cove on her own.

The weather was great, the company fun and the run enjoyable, but the thought of doing three loops on the same course for Hyson's Hiatus in two weeks is not quite as appealing as it was a few days ago.

Name Time Distance
Lorie Alexander 9:44 33 1/3 M
Gilles Barbeau 9:44 33 1/3 M
Karl Jensen 9:44 33 1/3 M
John Machray 4:30 14       M
Claudia Bullington 2:00 8       M
Sibylle Tinsel 1:30
Baldwin Lee 1:00 5       M

My report

After enjoying an early morning run in the BP... I went back to the parking lot, wrote down my distance and time in the master sheet on Gilles's car... all was good until I started looking for my car keys. Yes, I realized I had lost my car keys. but where? At that moment, I just realized that I was the "foolest" of all, when I saw them right on the driver seat where I put them just before I left and  manually locked my car. Knowing other fools were going to take a long time to come back, I had to call for help. So far the most expensive run this weekend (running is supposed to be free!!), but nevertheless a very enjoyable one! Hope you also had a good one. Claudia

Free

Actually Claudia, the run was free, it was leaving the keys in the car that was expensive.  You were only the "foolest" today, we've all done the same thing.  It might be a good idea to always lock the car with the key.  I started doing that after I locked mine in.

Sorry we missed you this morning.  We left at about 9:02 or so.

Ouch. Glad you found them,

Ouch.

Glad you found them, though ;-)

Here is something that has helped us out of a pickle a few times in the past:  get a small metall box for a spare key and attach it with some wires somewhere underneath your car... it's a pain to retrieve, especially when it's muddy or rainy, but better than the alternative.

Not up for 33 1/2 miles on

Not up for 33 1/2 miles on the BP but wanted to meet up with The Fools.  After careful calculations I figured if I start my run at Skyline Drive and go east just past 9 am in the morning, I should run into them after 30-60 min.  Bingo.  Met Karl, Lorie, Gilles and John after 45min and turned around to run them back to Mosquito Creek.   Happy to be able to keep up with them.  Great run.  Creeks and streams were gurgling, sunshine streaming through the trees, birds chirping and no bears in sight ;-)  Total of 1:30 for me.
