Hi gang!

Since I'm in Victoria visiting here for New Years I know I'll miss the FA 50k in Vancouver. To start the year off right I wanted to run 50k to get my ultra year started right!

Starting from Shellbourne and San Juan street in Saanich I plan to run along the Cordova Bay Rd South, Beach Rd, King George, Dallas Rd to Beacon Hill park to mile 'zero'.  That's appox 21k.  Turn around and head back.  Join my family for a 8k loop to complete the 50k.

Short notice but sign up if you're interested.

Happy New Year!

Cheers,

Mike

Finished the 50k run!

Well if you were outside at 6am I'm sorry I missed you!  I hit the road at 7:30 and did a slow run to the turnaround point at Beacon Hill park at the 'mile zero' marker.

Time out was a leisurely 2:30.  Beautiful sunshine and except for the multiple bathroom breaks and some map reading the time was not too bad (went to bed at 2am after a few tequila shots!).  Turns out my family didn't want to join me for the last 8k so I had to make a change by running up Mt. Doug.

Heading back was much easier with the body a little lighter and the body a little more warmed up.  I reached the climb up to Mt. Doug at approx 4:50 and climbed the steep 1.5k long hill in about 13 minutes, ran back down (quads a little tender at this point) to home.  Total time was 5:25.  See route details by following the map I created on Map My run by clicking this link: www.mapmyrun.com/route/ca/bc/saanich/902129393024775119

Great way to start the New Year!

Cheers,

Mike
