Club Fat Ass Events: Cleaning up garbageReport: Many thanks to the forty-two participants, including Missouri runners, Jason and Lauren Eads, who took part in the 7th running of the Enduro 6-hour run on the Lynn Loop Trail in the Seymour Demonstation Forest. Conditions were ideal on the intense 7.8 km course, featuring exposed roots, boulders, loose gravel, and steep grades where runners have 6-hours to complete as many loops of the course that they can handle.

Garry Robbins managed 9 loops under 6-hours, setting a new course record in a time of 5:34. Aided by Ryan Melcher in the last few loops, it's doubtful this record will be broken any time soon. Three women completed six loops within the time frame -- Jackie Muir, Kirsten Ramage, and Lorie Alexander.

Club Fat Ass Events- black bear on the runParticipants at the start/finish area around 11:30 witnessed a rather large black bear ambling up the suspension bridge trail towards the ranger hut. Though he was little too close for comfort, he appeared to be disinterested in the people behind the flashing cameras and continued on his trek through the woods.

A nice gathering at the Seymour Pub followed a great day. Thanks to our sponsors Kintec Footlabs, Trail Runner Magazine, and Kinesys.

Thanks for coming out!

Thank you to everyone who came out Saturday for the Enduro, we could not of asked for a better day. Sorry I did not have a chance to talk to Jason and Lauren, but the start was a bit rushed. I hope you guys had a chance to tour around Vancouver over the weekend.

Hey Ean to bad about the calf, I would like to get out for a run with you before States, I need some positive energy. After seeing Garry run my whole body fatigued.

Great run Garry, your ready for the big race!

Thanks Andy et All!

Thanks Andy for putting on such a great event, i.e. bringing out the sunshine in full force:)

Great to see so many familiar and new faces alike, was a great day to be out and enjoying running in one of the best places in the world!

Hope to see everyone again soon. Check out the 'flash' event I posted, it's a link to a Fat Ass 60k in Wash this Sunday if people are interested?

2009 NS Enduro - my first CFA event!

Andy -

Wonderful event you hosted Saturday - totally worth the flight up from St. Louis, MO. My quads are 'thanking' me for getting agressive on the downhills during the Enduro.

And the new record set by Gary? WOW. It was a pleasure to participate with each and every CFA member we met.

You all were very gracious hosts. Lauren and I sincerely appreciate that and hope to be back soon for another CFA event.

Sincererly,

Jason Eads

Thanks, Andy and Michelle

What a great day it was.  Like Action Jackson I only did one loop - albeit a bit faster than him

Nice to see so many new faces out, and very special to have Jason and Lauren from Missouri join us.  It also was wonderful to have a few young runners out.  Leading the pack and leaving his mom in the dust was little EJ, followed by Josh, JoJo and Sarah.  I hope to see them all again (and more) at Mudrunner's son's race, the Lord of the Loops, in two weeks.

Thanks Andy

It was my first fat ass event in a couple years. I thought I had a lifetime membership I paid for waaaaay back when. Apparently not......in these hard economic times I will see if I can scrape membership cash together for next event.

It was good to see the gang again.

Awesome Run, Andy -- Thank you!

While injury prevented me from running all that much, I had an absolutely outstanding morning.  Thanks, Andy and Michelle.

My calf went "boing!" again last Sunday and it was painful as Hell all week.  I probably shouldn't have even make the trek to the start, but my kids wanted to participate in the Enduro.  I'm so glad I did drag my fat ass out of bed.  It was under a cloudless sky that we set out at 7:15.  It's been a while since I last was in the LSCR, so I was surprised to see the road was paved.  Also weird to see the gazebo was completely gone.

I hobbled along at the absolute back of the pack for a while.  Great to be out in the woods on a beautiful spring morning, even if I wasn't running with the big dogs.  Given that I was way slower than normal, I took the time to check out the remnants of old wooden water pipes, a wagon frame that had trees growing out of it and other stuff left over from the days when they first logged the north shore.  Did anyone else notice the stink cabbage next to the trail?

Wendy and Josh, who arrived at the start a bit late, caught up to me about 1K into the first lap and we hiked/jogged the rest of the way together.  Almost got blown off the trail when Robbins flew by us on his second lap... figured he was just out for 1 lap before going to work given that pace.  Holy smokes... new 6-hour course record!  Also great to see everyone else checking in after each lap as I sat in the sun.

Sorry I missed you at the finisher party.  Congrats to all and thanks again for a great day!

Thanks!

What a great day and a great course for my first FA event. I really liked the mix of flat, climb, technical, and downhill. Strangely the two miles out each loop seemed by far the hardest part after the first couple of loops. It was great to meet a lot of you afterwards as well.

Sorry (I think) that I missed the bear.
