Fantastic Run, Chris!
Hey Chris,
What a lot of fun it was to run Gambier with you and Des! Quite frankly, I had no idea what to expect when you guys picked me up. Turns out it was a very memorable adventure.
The day was perfect: Warm with cloudless skies. The ride over on the water taxi was a great start to the day. Not sure my wife would have liked that part, though? Very cool marine park where they dropped us off at Halkett Bay...worth looking into for a weekend camping expedition. Also nice to see your property. Keep me in mind when you need help with weed wacking and path building.
Funny, the trip up to the hidden lakes didn't seem to be all that steep, but I guess it was like stair-steps. The descent seemed to go on forever.
My favorite impressions were the abundance of wild mushrooms, sundews in the moss at Lost Lake, the old moss-covered corduroy roads and the green moss that covered everything on the interior of the island. Of course, there was world-class company.
Not sure what happened with the water-taxi on the return leg? Glad we missed it, though. I've never hitch-hiked a ride on a sailboat before. =;-)
I hope you do this again, as it's a true adventure run.
