Report:

We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather for the second year of the Back to Back STORMY training run.  We had a great group of participants show up from as far away as Ottawa, Bellingham and Victoria.  Some were training for the STORMY 50 or 100, some for other events like the Mont Blanc 100 and pacing at Badwater, and some showed up just to enjoy running the great trails Squamish has to offer.  (I was there just to see if I could still run after five weeks of a femur injury).  Most did the prescribed course, which totaled 68 km for the weekend.  A couple added extra mileage:  Ward ran back to the start after the first km or two to retrieve his new Garmin from on top of his car, and Thierry (an alternate for the recent 100k world championships) ran at least an extra 5k by running back and forth between the two groups of runners.  Participants spotted one bear cub and I came across one large black bear.  But alas, no cougar sighting (I’ve seen lots of bears on the trails, but no big cats).  However there was one animal attack:  Imre’s dog got a little too excited, jumped up on him, and drew blood!  Thanks for coming out everyone.  And thank you Imre for stashing water along the course and guiding the "chase pack".  And thanks also to our sponsors (Trail Runner, Kinesys, Kintec) who provided the prizes to hand out after the event.

We loved BC!

Stephanie and I just came back to Ottawa and we already miss BC! We just want to thank you all for making these 2 days one of the highlight of our trip. It was just an amazing training in an incredible place! Now, we are seriously considering doing the Stormy next year...  As we told you, we did the West Coast Trail after the Squamish Brick, and we did it in 5 days without too many bruises! The weather was just perfect. The toughest part was to not being able to run for 5 days!

About the event, we just want to thank Tim and Imre for making sure that we did not get lost...  Imre, thanks again for your extra mileage to get us back to our hotel in Squamish... Kirsten, thank you so much for getting us back to the bus station in Vancouver and for making us discover salmon jerky (excellent!)... and finally, thanks to all runners for making us feel welcomed.

We hope to see you soon! A bientôt!

Hi Thierry and

Hi Thierry and Stephanie,

Sorry, I missed you.  Glad you had a great weekend in Squamish AND good weather on the West Coast Trail (that is very lucky).  Hope you'll come out again - and maybe host a CFA event in Ottawa ;-)

Thanks Tim!

Tim,

Thanks for organizing a great event.  The group was a lot of fun, we couldn't have asked for better weather, and we even had some wildlife sightings!

Kirsten

One of the best running weekends EVER!

I had such a great weekend at the Squamish B2B. I was so fortunate to have met such great new friends, and run in beautiful new trails. It was great to have a running weekend that wasn't a race, but still a nice challenge. Nothing better than hours of goregeous trails, varied terrain and views, stops for snacks and berrie picking, and lots of runner talk with runner people (nothing like an hour long conversation about proteins, Omega, and the best choice of power gels). ALSO: I was VERY impressed with the way this run was organized. It was flawless, and a huge success! Thanks so much! -Barbara in Bellingham

Thanks for the great

Thanks for the great feedback, Barbara. Sounds like Tim took very good care of everybody.  Now I feel even worse about not making it up on Sunday...something about a last minute dinner invite and just not being organised in time.  Next year!  Are you running Stormy?

I hope you come out to more CFA events.  There is a great one in Victoria in 3 weeks (Full Monty) and of course the Capilano Night Run in August is an event not to be missed.  Tim mentioned you signed up for the day, but if you like to come out more often we can transfer to an Annual Membership.  Just email me.  Happy Trails,

Sibylle

ya gotta like that Tim ...

I think Barbara's a fan. And it was a great time for sure. Like she said, nothing better than hours of all that stuff with people that are equally interested and interesting. I feel great for having done the B2B even though my second run was on the killer BP with the Knee Knacker group. I've really learned to appreciate doing 2 big runs in a row this year. Lets hope it translates well for me on race day in two weeks.

Looking very forward to STORMY too and seeing the rest of the course.
