This was my second running of the soon to be Spring "Classic".
Kate had managed to convince the weather Gods to shine on us.
I was running with four well prepared women, the nuclius of which was my Sunday long run group, plus one brave newbie to CFA and my group of "usual suspects".
Luckily we were all about the same pace so we could hang together well and there was little or no regrouping stops needed.
We did stop to see the old copper mine, the Island and ocean view at Iron Mine bay and we had a little wander around in the cabin at Cabin Point.
The trails had a fair amount of surface water, and in parts we were running either upstream or down stream. In one case we ran up and down the same stream as Elaine was taking the word "straight" to mean straight.... 'nuf said.
We all congrgated in the 17 mile House on the Sooke Rd. for beer food and prizes.
Yes prizes!
I was the First male finisher.(incidentally also the last " Long Course" finisher!)
Here is the link to my seven minute video of the event.
I think you will see that we took full advantage of our brief window of opportunity.(weather wise...)
Hi all! Sibylle is in transit to Spag Trees and I don't have her cell phone # (i'm assuming she has one...?!). If anyone is able to get ahold of her, please let her know: we will wait for them at the start in case they're not quite there by noon. I'll be out in East Sooke by about 10.30A and there's no cell phone reception out there, so she won't be able to get me (but she can try, there are little pockets of reception!). my number is 250.415.7314
You are so sweet, Teagirl! I am not a "mobile" geeky chick, so I never got a phone call ;-) But I knew you were expecting us and knew it would be tight. No worries. I thought starting 15min later would leave a bit more air for the folks on the 9am ferry from the mainland, but in retrospect, given that we made the most of the course ;-) it was fine. I'll write a blog post and give my thoughts on travel time/planning there.
This is perfect for Spaghetti Trees! A little bit of everything. Plus spaghetti.
P.S. Anyone selling a house in North Van? We're looking. We're sad to leave the sunnier climes of Vancouver Island but luckily we can always come back for Spaghetti Trees and the Monty-by-any-other-name (still smells as sweet!). And the trails are definitely easier to access on this side o' the water!
Teagirl & Lysanne had been wondering about moving Spaghetti Trees to Sunday April 3rd instead of Saturday April 2nd, but we're not going to any more. So, Saturday April 2nd at noon, it is! Hope to see you there!

I am hoping for clear skies ;-) and warm temps, come on Teagirl, you can pull it off. Sorry, we are not selling.
Pat and I will be coming
Pat and I will be coming over with the 9:00am ferry. Anybody joining us from the mainland for a happy car pool?
Spag Trees will definitely be on Sat, April 2nd, after all!
