To run or not to run, that is the question; Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The aches and pains of outrageous pavement, Or to quit against a sea of misery, And by quitting, end them. To stop, to sleep; No more; and by a sleep to say we end The agony and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to — 'tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd. To quit, to sleep

Hey,
Thanks for organizing this great event, and even managing to arrange for a fabulous sunrise and perfect weather. It was a real treat to be able to take advantage of the urban amenities (bathrooms and water options) to travel light! My GPS watch, Ipod, 4 gels, and $20 and I was good to go. What a treat!
My running time for 50 km was 4:44. My total elapsed time added about 15 minutes.
I didn't manage to find any garbage, but I did tickle two babies and assist in the recovery of a runaway dog in the west end! Thanks again, and send my best to those brave few running, pacing and crewing through the night.

Hey Lucy,
Just wanted to say "Thank you!" for the 25Ks this morning. Always imporntant to "Rain, No Train" Jackson, the weather was awesome and there was lots of great company.
I ran mostly with Tim to the Coal Harbor turnaround, Des and Tim to the bridge and Des back to the start. We were 2:18, if I recall correctly. The 25K is a guess, but at the nosebleed pace we were going at, we might have covered 50K! Both Des and I picked trash off the bridge on the come-back trail.
I took a few photos and will add to your Flickr stream. I really hope the one of downtown Vancouver skyline in the clouds with sun rising over it turns out. Saw a big salmon heading up the Capilano River but I doubt he'll be visible in the photo.
All of the best to those courageous fools who will be still running after I have dinner, watch a movie, sleep 8 hours, enjoy a leasurely breakfast, go for a run and am likely sitting down to lunch tomorrow.

The race started off without a hitch. Most people arrived just in time for the traditional pre-race photo. So far it is a glorious day. A cool crisp autumn day at its best. Lots of folks running, mostly custom distances, a few 50 milers and a lone brave sole for the 100.
I will post pics in the next little while and more complete updates later.
Sunday: There will be a post race even at Mosquito Creek on the North Shore at 3pm

If you're from out of town (includes 'burbs), you're welcome to stay at my place. We're about 10 minutes from the start. WRT my "Hammer" comment below, I'm looking for someone to do some last-minute training with (e.g. watch kickboxing videos, eat popcorn and drink beer.)

Hey all, I'm in need of some more punishment. maybe 100 miles on pavement will get me thinking strait. I know that's an oxymoron but what can I say. you know, if what they say about exercise for the brain is true then I'd be a genius by now. I'm thinking they did not account for Ultrarunners in there studies. I'll just start with one mile and see how much I can take. see you all this weekend.

No race in October and Gilles is a gluten for punishment. I figure the more he's out there, the more he's having fun, the more he is fun to be around.....

Are you training for something in particular or making sure you have a 100-miler in October? Whatever, it sounds very cool. I am in for 25 miles and crewing. Now sure in what order just yet. Probably, an afternoon start and crewing after.
