I know, I know...it's a bit early to post New Year's Resolutions... but with the rain a nd fog we've had lately it almost feels like it is November and time to get ready ;-)
I foolishly posted my musings about 2008 a while ago including some lofty goals. Since we actually have a contest going for New Year's Resolutions Ean has bugged me ever since to post my goals in the contest...So here I go:
Goal #1: Vancouver New Years Day Fat Ass 50km, ideally beating my time from 2006.
Goal #2: Marathon under 4h. I would like to find a spring marathon somewhere less than 1h drive from Vancouver. Failing that, I'll try Vancouver and have fall marathon (Kelowna) as back-up.
Goal # 3: Assuming I get in, participating and finishing at the 20th Kneeknacker North Shore Trail Run 50km.
Goal # 4: Participating in following other events/races:
- Squamish Scrambler Snowshoe Run
- Capilano Canyon MardiGras Night Run
- Dirty Duo 25K
- Mountain Highway Madness (2 laps)
- Run To the Clouds
- Squamish Brick ?
- XTC 50K
- Bill's Great Peak Ascent
- Capilano Canyon Midsummer Nite Night Run
- Go Deep or Go Home
- Go Home
- Pure Satisfaction
Since it is so early in the year I reserve the right to "fiddle" with these goals depending on my training, health status and injuries...

I won't be winning anything
I had a rather lousy year for running, but things are looking up and I am not complaining....
Here are my goals from last year and what happened:
Goal #1: Vancouver New Years Day Fat Ass 50km, ideally beating my time from 2006.
Outcome: Hey, I made this one, even beating my time from 2006. It was painful, though. Because of family health issues I wasn't able to continue my great training from the summer 2007 and proceeded to get injured prior to New Years Day. I had written off to run the full 50km, but decided during the run, that I would stick it out. Thanks, Craig, for running with me on that long January 1st!
Goal #2: Marathon under 4h. I would like to find a spring marathon somewhere less than 1h drive from Vancouver. Failing that, I'll try Vancouver and have fall marathon (Kelowna) as back-up.
Outcome: Failed that one! The fall injury continued to prevent me from running any distance into April...did not get any trianing in to think about running a marathon
Goal # 3: Assuming I get in, participating and finishing at the 20th Kneeknacker North Shore Trail Run 50km.
Outcome: ditto, failed. I actually ended up travelling over the summer and missed the KK completely.
Goal # 4: Participating in following other events/races:
