Back On The Trails?

Today is the last day to register for Kneeknacker.  If you have been sitting on the fence and contemplating... better get your FA into gear...

Considering that I have barely run since early December - January 1 being the notable exception ;-) - I have decided not to register this year.  It is still on my horizon for another year, but I have to be realistic in my goals...and I am just to slow.  I had been hoping to use the last 2 month building some ground speed, but a hip injury didn't allow me to run.

I am back (sort of) though. Ran a couple of times for 20 min and as it often goes, it seems to be that moving is helping the hip - or maybe it's just the time.  Today will be my first time back in the trails of Capilano Canyon.  I have been missing these trails so much...watching Carlos' movie and reading about Rhonda's and Cheryl's plans to run the Juan de Fuca Trail run almost hurt ;-)  At least there was good skiing to be had and the hip didn't hurt while on the boards.

Time to put the trail shoes on...

Disappointed you can't be with us

I was hoping you would sign up for Juan de Fuca, Sibylle ...sorry to hear that you are not quite ready. There will be at least one other trip later this year. Hope you can join us!

I'd be pushing it ;-)

How long are you planning to run? The thought is definetely enticing and was a major motivator for heading out for a run yesterday.

However, I am probably better off to lay this to rest, not be dissappointed and focus on a later date for the JDFT.

I ran the stretch from Sombrio to Botanical Beach last summer (in two separate runs).  It was marvellous, although I was  told it was the easier part of the trail.

Back at the Desk ;-)

First "longer" run (65 min including some stretching and playing tourist guide in Cap Canyon) felt sooo good.  Still some tightness in that right hip, but overall it was an encouraging and invigorating outing.

My friend Michele and I have been wondering, if we feel rusty and creaky when we don't move for a little while, how do perpetual couch potatoes feel?  Maybe it's just my bad genes...For me the motto "use it or loose it" holds true.  Besides, who can beat that flushed feeling after a good workout, that "good" tiredness after a few hours on the trails, the exhilaration of accomplishment or the oxygen/endorphin rush?
