The fools, a few Fat Asses and 2 Coyote Moons - results updated

For those who haven't heard, the fools are back in Ojai for Coyote2Moon. An early season 100 miler that gets these guys to put on a few flash events.

Good omen of the day: we saw a coyote cross the road on the way to lunch!

The events starts well before the race. On Thursday evening, there is the ever popular bowling night. Everyne is giving nicknames such as sandbagger barbeau, jitters jensen, hanging chad and trail running widow. Depending on your score you and your team mates may be eligible to score bonus or boner minutes. More on that later. We may not be the best bowlers, but we did manage to get 3rd place overall as a team. Barry Hopkins received our trophy and apparently if he brings it to the starting line, the boys can get a few bonus minutes. Its not very clear, but then again that's how things are here at C2M.

Later, in the evening we chatted with the grand poobah of the race, Chris Scott. He is quite the character and truly makes sure that this race is unique. On Friday, there was lunch at an Italian restaurant picnic style. The weather is nice and sunny, warm but not too warm. Ideal running weather. At the end of lunch, Chris explained the details of the race. Basically, follow the markers, bring nice treats to the volunteers for bonus minutes, and oh if you get lost, they will go looking for you in 3 days. They also handed out the traditional salt shaker award for those that came from furthest away.

Then, registration. Pick up more goodies, sign waivers and make friends. with the concept of staggered starts, Gilles, Chad, Karl, Barry and Lori all start at 1 am. So off to the hotel to take a nap, go for dinner, and tape some feet to prevent blisters. I will go to the start and perhaps some aid stations on Saturday. Then, I will volunteer at Cozy Dell, the second to last aid station on Saturday. I will post updates as I get them and try to post photos as well. There are a few more photos on my flickr page. So, click on the link and enjoy hearing about our crazy adventure.

Congrats to All Fools and Their Crews

Great showing, you guys.  All of those long runs on icy trails paid off, it looks like.  Can't wait to hear the stories.  Have a safe trip home.

Snow & ice training must be good

Congratulations, Fools.  All you needed was some sunshine and you flew!

RESULTS

It's over.

Karle had an incredible finish in sub 30 hours - actually it was 29 hrs 23 min (give or take)

Gilles did quite well in a time of 32hrs 30 min.

Chad had to pull out early on due to an achilles issue. He has lots of big races this year so he really has to be wise about racing.

Lorie and Barry had to stop at Cozy Dell - 67 miles.

Anyways, very impressive for Karl and Gilles. More pics to be posted soon. Napping will take priority.

And they're off

The club fat ass group started the race promptly at 1 am (5 out of 7 starters were fat ass members).

They were in good spirits and were eager to get going. The  night was pleasanty cool. The night was clear and filled with millions of stars. There were  even reports that there were coyotes in the area.
