2010, can't wait to meet you.
2009 saw me get back into running after a 17 year hiatus, and back then I just ran as a means to build cardio for another sport, rowing. This past June I could only run for 2 or 3 minutes before taking a rest, but I slowly built up a base for three months before taking the plunge to run in the first organized running event of my life, the Club Fat Ass Mutha's 10K. Since then, I've run four more trail events to close out 2009, most recently the Galbraith Mountain Tour at roughly 30K and 4hrs 15min. In sum, rediscovering running (and specifically trail running in and around North Vancouver), along with joining Club Fat Ass in 2009 turned out to be lightning strikes that have charged me with positive energy, which I will continue to harness in 2010.
Goals for 2010 Running Events:
- Finish in Top 10 in club point series standings, through participation in 12 Club events
- Finish in Top 10 in bagger challenge point standings
Apart from the running events, I aim to:
- volunteer (help Club Fat Ass as a steering committee member)
- write 10 blog posts about my club experiences, from a new member's perspective
