Plain 100

I came today across the website of this 100 miler run on the Cascade mountains; maybe for others here (read: fools) this run is old news.
And if this race is not yet part of ultra folklore, I'm sure it's fast on its way there.

100 ("+"...) miles, No flagging, no t-shirt, no pacers, no aid stations, "you receive nothing from anyone", no stashing, and to top it all off properly - "if someone figures out what they think is a cool way to use the above rules to their advantage over their fellow runners, I reserve the right to disqualify them."

2 finishers in '98, 0 in '99-'01, 2 finishers in '02, 6 in '04, 2 in '05, 7 in '06, 14 finishers of 29 starters last year; you get the picture.

Am I the only one finding the race director's attitude spot on?

A few years earlier I would have been there. It will have to wait a few more years for me right now.

I'm running the race this year. it will be the last race in a new four race 100 mile northwest slam. each race only two weeks apart. consisting of a new 100 here in whatcom county near bellingham wa., Stormy, cascade crest and plain. well that is the plan for now.

Can I split it with you?

Hey Ran,
Sounds like a road trip!   Not sure if I'm up to doing a 100-miler at the rate I'm falling apart, but maybe we can do 50-miles each and split it?  Or, you do the whole enchillada and I'll pace you?

I wouldn't dream it

Doing a relay? using a pacer? didn't you read their rules man?

They'll ban us for life in case of that slim chance we'll escape alive from the trail goons they must have on their payroll.

It's on the list

Not for this year, since the schedule is quite busy, but a few of us are thinking about it for next year.
