Best Set of Stairs in North Vancouver?

Hi Everybody,

I'm looking for a good set of stairs to train on in North Vancouver, the longer and steeper the better. Any suggestions (besides the Grind)?

Lynn Valley Area Stairs

Good stair in the Lynn Valley area.  The are the stairs from the Head water up the BP.  There is also shorter stair from the overflow parking lot down to the varlley trail.  (Note: I not sure as to the snow status on these stairs right now.)

Also in Lynn Cayon there is a good set of stair coming out of 30 meter pool.  Or near the supension bridge on the Cafe side the BP has a nice set of stairs.

There is no shortage of good stairs or hill in North Van.

 Now I have no excuses.

Now I have no excuses. Thanks guys!

Sidestep on Stairs

I'd have to agree with the comment below.  She has the best stairs nailed!

For a step up, or I guess more appropriately, a side-step, you might try intervals on streets or trails with a relatively steep grade.  Here are a few of my faves:

  • the Deadly Dudley (Dudley Street, parallel to Highlands off Kennedy).  This is great because there is rarely any traffic.
  • Fairmont Road (just north of Griffin Gym).  Less grade, but a good interval.  Used regularly by Running Room group.
  • Mosquito Creek trail (just north of Griffin gym.)  Solid grade, no traffic, some doggie-walkers.  Try intervals between the yellow bridge and Mount Royal bridge.

Marine Drive to Pemberton Heights

There are two sets of stairs from Bowser Trail up to Pemberton Heights.  One is accessible at the just north of Marine Drive on Pemberton Ave.,  the other ones are somewhere off Bowser between Pemberton and Capilano Rd.

There is also a nice set from the Fish Hatchery in Capilano Canyon to the Dam.  Lastly, how about the stairs on the BP up from the Lynn Headwaters Road and the ones from Lynn Canyon to the LSCR?
