Yo Sharkies!
Whale, you there? Time to wake up. Hibernation time's over. 'Seen the Reef?
Been a while since the last duel, eh? Kits Pool. 20th of August 2009. It was sunny. The water was briny and tasted a bit like coconut oil. Reef really surprised us, eh? Remember that? 'Seems like yesterday.
Hey Reef... wake up!
So I've been to study the waters twice this year. Twice this week, in fact. Just got back.
First time was embarrassing. Whale, I felt like a big fish in a small bowl! Can you imagine? The last time I was in the pool the lanes were 135 meters long. Griffin is only 25 meters. Tons of other fish, too. I think it's the new years' resolutions. The pool was frothing. Anyway, I did three sets of 5 minutes crawl and I was done like dinner. Seriously. There might be hope for you yet this year, eh?
Have you seen Reef? Last time I saw him, we were having pints on the deck at Bridges. Kinda like a ghost, eh? Comes outta nowhere. Kicks my ass. Disappears.
Say, are you good with this: "2010 Olympic Duel at the Pool"? To celebrate the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Late August, like last year? Makes sense. Nice and sunny then.
Second time I went for a splash, just now, I doubled the mileage. If I keep doing this every other night from now to August, your ass is so grass.
By the way, we may need to have a Shark's Council meeting. I've met not one but two sharks recently: the Red-Tailed Black and the Hammerhead. The were sniffing around the duel. Should we let them in? Maybe we make them buy us beers at Bridges as an entry fee?
Actually, that might not work because I think the Red-Tailed Black isn't quite 19.
Gotta go eat something and go to sleep, Whale. Say "Howdy" to the Reef if you see him.
