Running Movies

I thought some of you might be interested in a movie playing at the Scotiabank Theatre (formerly Paramount) on Burrard Street next week. Spirit of The Marathon is playing for one night only, on April 9th.

The synopsis: From three-time Academy Award winning filmmaker and Executive Producer Mark Jonathan Harris comes the first ever non-fiction feature film to capture the drama and essence of the famed 26.2 mile running event. Filmed on four continents, “Spirit of the Marathon” brings together a diverse cast of amateur athletes and marathon luminaries. As six unique stories unfold, each runner prepares for and ultimately faces the challenge of the Chicago Marathon. More than a sports movie, “Spirit of the Marathon” is an inspirational journey of perseverance and personal triumph; a spectacle that will be embraced by runners and non-runners alike.

BTW: I also have a number of running DVDs if anyone ever wants to borrow them, including one on Badwater which will convince you you really never want to try it, in case you've had odd thoughts of curiosity.

Hi Killaine,

Hi Killaine,

Thanks for posting this. I was just about to do this, too, but you beat me. I watched part of the trailer...Any of The Fools and their friends might find this funny as they are talking about the incredible demands of the distance of a marathon. But it sounds like an interesting recap on history and background of this classic distance.
