Fellow Fat Assses: If you have opinions about cycling on the North Shore, and if there is an advocate in you, you might want to consider applying to the Joint Bicycle Advisory Committee. It is a great group with real impact:
The City of North Vancouver is seeking volunteer members (who have to be residents of either the City OR District of North Vancouver) for the Joint Bicycle Advisory Committee (starting January 2010). The purpose of this committee is to provide recommendations and advice to both Councils (and municipal staff) on cycling facilities and related issues in the two municipalities.
This committee meets on the first Wednesday of every other month (6 times a year - likely to increase). Here is the link to the webpage for this committee www.cnv.org/JBAC.
To apply online:
City Residents: go to http://www.cnv.org//forms/COMMITTEE.aspx
District Residents: go to http://www.dnv.org/committee%2Dform/

Are you on this committee,
Are you on this committee, Killaine. I'll look into it, but because of time constraints will probably have to pass...even though I HAVE opinions re cycling on our beautiful North Shore.
I am, Sibylle. I know you
I am, Sibylle. I know you have opinions and probably good ideas too, and it was after our FB conversation on cycling routes yesterday that I thought I should post this to CFA. There are already a couple other runners on the committee too - I guess those who run probably get around by bike too. I'd love to hear any specific concerns or pet peeves you have.
