Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to Vancouver this year for the New Year's Day run and get 2010 started off in that way - but it didn't mean I couldn't run :)
The next best thing is running with my local group, the St. Louis Ultrarunner's Group (S.L.U.G.'s). They are a great bunch and had planned a run at Hawn State Park near Ste. Genevieve, MO. It's a trail I had never run, so I thought it was an opportunity I must take.
The S.L.U.G.'s and Hawn State Park didn't disappoint (S.L.U.G.'s never do!) and the run was gorgeous. Temperatures were very cold, in the lower teens (F) or probably about -10 Celsius. Chilly! But the sun was shining and the trees blocked most of the wind. It really made for some great running.
Our club president, Lee Hess, took these photos so I thought I'd share them with CFA.

Not to disappoint you all, but there wasn't a "Freeze your fat ass off" swim at the end of our run. I'm pretty sure I would have been shot for even proposing it! Maybe next year?
Happy New Year everyone!

Nice job yesterday! 6:30!!! That's excellent! Especially considering you're not 100% physically healthy. AWESOME.
