A glorious sunny weekend in Vancouver. Seymour looked to still have snow, so we rolled out to Lynn Peak instead. A nice steady grind, finishing with some awesome views of Vancouver.
But what's with all the bags of dog poo laying around the trails?? If they bag it, why to they leave it?? Imelda & Derek pitched in during their peak bag to collect some bags. 2 bags for Imelda, 1 for Derek.

Poo Bagging
Good on you, Imelda and Derek, for taking on the ignoble challenge of picking up other people's dog poo!
I could never figure out how it is that a responsible dog owner will go to the trouble to bag a hot turd, but then leave same plastic-covered goodie-bag on the trail.
thanks guys!
Sibylle - thanks, first of all for doing such an awesome job on the NS Enduro youtube video. Great music!
Ryan - thanks for the tips on getting to the South Needle - are there maps of this area? If I get lost can I call you? And great idea of having Shazam carry out his own poo - he probably likes the "extra fragrance" on his hike
Ean - I showed my office mate your users pic. This was her comment "He has the skinniest and whitest butt I have ever seen". No comment on possible shrinkage. Thank goodness.
South Needle Loop
Here is a trip report from Club Tread. Actually this is probably a good way to do it, it is the opposite way from what I was thinking (up Hydraulic Creek, right at the intersection to the South Needle and then return to the intersection and keep heading straight or right rather than down Hydraulic Creek). It is easier to find the trail near Hydraulic Creek on the Seymour Trailway, and as long as you don't accidentally head back down Hydraulic Creek or make some bonus mileage up to the bushed-in Lynn Summit pretty tough to make a wrong turn. It is fairly well marked with pink flagging and some trail markers all the way up. Some good pics to tempt you. Things might still be a bit dicey very close to the peak but should be snow free very soon. You might wait until the Baggers Challenge opens to North Shore peaks if you are taking part in that, it is a good way to back a couple of peaks, rather than just the poo.

Sibylle I think they were talking about bagging poos not peaks
Imelda if you head up there again, you may want to check out the South Needle. If you go past the viewpoint there is a right hand turn below the actual peak, which is totally bushed in.
It goes down a skinny steep slope, but then continues on to the South Needle which has some truly impressive views, especially for the Lynn Ridge area. Its a very easy scramble to the top and you get true 360 degree views. Its a little ways from Lynn Peak but well worth it (maybe a couple of hours). There is a turnoff to the right you will see closer to the South Needle called Hydraulic Creek trail which you can take down to the Seymour Trailway to make a loop.
I don't know why people bag their poo and fling it beside the trail. I would prefer if they just kicked the poo off the trail if they're not going to haul it out. Sometimes I make Shazam carry his own poo!
I wondered about that - but
I wondered about that - but I guess the (peak) bag itch is starting early this year ;-)
Wendy and I had originally planned to bag a Bowen peak today, but given the logistics, uncooperative teenagers, Wendy running 50miles yesterday and me having severe asthma issues right now, we downgraded first to Lynn Peak and then ended up just running along Lynn Creek up river...
Lots of dog walkers out, they never leave the poo bags if someone is watching.... Looking forward to improved health so I can run on the quieter (remote) trails again.
Ahem, here is one for Judge
Ahem, here is one for Judge Crerar...the mainland peaks are not open for bagging season yet - only the Howe Sound Island peaks. We don't want to set a precedent ;-) but I think cleaning up poo bags must count for something.
